311 Men To Answer The October Draft Calls

The Courier reports 311 men will go to the 4th Street examining center this week. Board No 1 will send 90 on the 5th, 121 on the 7th, and Board No 2 will send 100 on the 12th to Cincinnati for final physicals. A new system will publish names to reduce embarrassment.

Shelter House Planned at Grant Memorial Park

Rep Hayden assures a shelter house will be erected at Grant Memorial Park in Pt Pleasant Ohio on the banks of the Ohio River along State Highway 52 a Federal highway. Hayden spearheaded House Bill No 168 which passed both houses enabling the original Gen Grant house to return to its former site.

Batavia Grange Plans Annual Inspection Meeting

Batavia Grange schedules its annual inspection for Thursday October 1 with County Deputy Mark Atehley as issuing officer. Members should arrive by 8 30 p m for a prompt start and an agricultural educational program is planned. Eleven members are urged to attend and bring sandwiches.

The Rationing Board urges the public school system to obey federal state and local laws on bus use. Summerside Methodist to Hold Rally Day Services

Summerside Methodist church schedules the fourth Sunday School Rally Day on October 4. A program is arranged by the rally day committee with services at 9 30 a m. An attendance of about 200 is expected for the morning services. Mrs Mayme McGraw serves as Sunday school superintendent and Rev Fred Moore is the pastor. Everyone is invited.

Service Trades Must Register With Ration Board

The Rationing Board urges all service trades to report charges for service by Sept 1 1942. Examples include auto maintenance and repairs, carpentry shop work, farm equipment upkeep, and electrical appliance service. Penalties for noncompliance include fines, imprisonment, injunctions, and possible license suspension.
