The Courier reports 311 men will go to the 4th Street examining center this week. Board No 1 will send 90 on the 5th, 121 on the 7th, and Board No 2 will send 100 on the 12th to Cincinnati for final physicals. A new system will publish names to reduce embarrassment.
Rep Hayden assures a shelter house will be erected at Grant Memorial Park in Pt Pleasant Ohio on the banks of the Ohio River along State Highway 52 a Federal highway. Hayden spearheaded House Bill No 168 which passed both houses enabling the original Gen Grant house to return to its former site.

Campaign runs eight weeks with two candy bars per week for ten cents or one war stamp per week. Girls urged to increase savings stamps purchases and send at least one to National Headquarters. Muriel Brion leads the effort with troop leader support to promote the drive.
Batavia Grange schedules its annual inspection for Thursday October 1 with County Deputy Mark Atehley as issuing officer. Members should arrive by 8 30 p m for a prompt start and an agricultural educational program is planned. Eleven members are urged to attend and bring sandwiches.
The Amelia Parent-Teacher Association will meet Thursday evening October 6 at 8 p m at Amelia school. Freshman class room mothers led by Mrs Carl White will supervise the program. All interested in the P T A should attend to vote on an important amendment.
The Rationing Board urges the public school system to obey federal state and local laws on bus use. It notes proposed evasion via recapped tires and warns of immediate reporting to the State Office if violations occur. It also directs Supt Hoggatt principals and teachers to enforce tire and bus safety requirements before the new term.
A local editorial urges voters to support wartime unity and swift action, while Clermont County announces a rubber boot and heavy footwear freeze and a scrap metal drive. School officials plan Oct. 5 rollouts with grades forming teams to maximize junk collection for arms and war equipment.
Rain and wet grounds forced the Williams burg versus Mt. Orab clash to be postponed last Sunday. The two teams will meet again next Sunday in Mt. Orab for the second game of the championship race.
Summerside Methodist church schedules the fourth Sunday School Rally Day on October 4. A program is arranged by the rally day committee with services at 9 30 a m. An attendance of about 200 is expected for the morning services. Mrs Mayme McGraw serves as Sunday school superintendent and Rev Fred Moore is the pastor. Everyone is invited.
The Quarterly Grange Officers Conference will be held at Marathon on Monday evening October 5 at 8 30 p m All members and officers are urged to attend.
Public installation set for Batavia school auditorium on Tuesday evening October 6 at 8 30 p m. District Commander Wm Dooley of Cincinnati will install, State Commander Martin L Coffey of Middletown is guest speaker. Batavia High Band directed by Miss Gladys Lewis will perform. All officers urged to attend with their groups.
The Rationing Board urges all service trades to report charges for service by Sept 1 1942. Examples include auto maintenance and repairs, carpentry shop work, farm equipment upkeep, and electrical appliance service. Penalties for noncompliance include fines, imprisonment, injunctions, and possible license suspension.
Ralph H. Stone urged Central Ohio defense councils to send reps to the Purdue War Department Civilian Protection School October 1 and 2 at Memorial Hall Columbus. About 1000 students expected to train in gas mask drills decontamination incendiaries and fire police utilities and more.
Batavia groups schedule meetings from Oct 1 to Oct 7 including Batavia Junior Woman's Club program with Miss Lillian Dill, Woman's Society of Christian Service at Batavia Methodist Church, Summerside Methodist Church meetings, and Mt. Pisgah Community Club chicken supper on Oct 3. Hosts include Mrs. Larkin Womak, Mrs. Paul McAfee, Mrs. Karl South, Mrs. Ellsworth Lang, and Rev. Moore. Penny-A-Day banks urged for fundraiser.
Clermont County Teachers Association gathers at Feli City School on October 16. General Session starts 4 45 PM and dinner follows at 6 00 PM.
