Longtime hunters Hahn and Clark feature old guns in Clermont County

L. F. Hahn of Cozaddale shares a photo of his father Nort and Albert Clark of Jackson, Mich. The pair hunted together for over fifty years. Earl Ridings of Loveland Dies in Lima State Hospital

Earl Ridings 62 civic leader and former Loveland Union Savings and Loan secretary died at Lima State Hospital where he had been held since September after a 1 to 10 year embezzlement sentence. He had health problems since admission September 13 and died of a cerebral condition. Burial set for Detroit.

Taft Visits Clermont County Hears National Issues

Senator Robert A Taft met Countians in Batavia and Bethel during a Monday visit. He spoke on farm support socialized medicine compulsory military training and aid to Europe. He opposed Brannan Plan favored flexible farm relief and argued against oleomargarine taxes. He preferred a small technical reserve force and noted aid to Europe would take years and cost billions. Local clubs and officials hosted sessions with press interviews and luncheons.

New Grand Jury To Hear Notable Cases In October

A new grand jury will hear three important cases when it meets in October. The lead case is the trial of Mrs John Marlott Route 756 near Point Isabel on a charge of shooting with intent to kill following an argument with her husband Kenneth Marlott last August 20. The Marlott family has four children. Also scheduled for trial are George Young and Donald Snider Jr both of New Richmond on sodomy charges involving a blind local woman as alleged victim. A third case is a damage suit brought by Herbert Rumpke Route 1 Batavia against State Highway Patrolman Mark Trees for 2500 claiming abusive language and being addressed as sir.

Legion Post 237 to Hold First Meeting in New Home

Members of Frank W. Weaver Post 237 Batavia will meet in the new Legion home on October 7 at 8 p.m. An election of officers for the 1950 term will be held. Members are asked to wear work clothes and help finish the new home.

New $118000 Waterworks Plant Under Way in Milford

Work has begun on Milford Waterworks new plant built by Dawson Evans Construction Co. at 118000 dollars. The facility will include electric pumps a water softening plant a lab and a meter testing and repair shop with completion planned for April 1950. Property owners near the reservoir site weigh an alternate location to avoid hindering hillside residential development.

Former U S Senator W. J. Bulow and his wife will fly from Washington D C to Batavia October 2 for a family reunion. He will visit his Batavia sisters and the reunion will be in the Evangelical United Brotherhood church basement. Bulow, born near Point Pleasant, rose to governor of South Dakota and later served in the Senate before retiring.
