Seven to One: Marriages to Divorces Report
The past year saw seven marriages for every one divorce with 47 000 unions and 6 507 divorces, lower than 1918. Absence and neglect led to 1 091 husband and 2 816 wives divorces, drunkenness to 865 wives, cruelty to 221 husbands and 1 241 wives, with 298 husbands and 224 wives citing infidelity. Monroe and Vinton counties each had six decrees. There were 9 608 suits filed, 2 745 dismissed, and 9 507 granted, leaving 6 749 pending.

Tragic Silo Accident Claims Lif e of Lee Granstaff at Deck West Farm
A fatal silo belt accident at Deck West farm near Rainsboro killed Lee Granstaff, aged about 52, who tended a gasoline engine. The mechanism failed after a wheel broke and, while adjusting the unit, he was mangled between the belt and pulley. He left a wife and three young children.

Petition Filed for Batavia Day Service Referendum on Light Question
