The annual infirmary report ending September 1 1915 shows inmate totals, salaries, and major expense categories, with notes on farm output and livestock. It criticizes missing inventory data and urges fuller accounting including crops, livestock numbers, and butter production.

The Bantam Presbyterian church in Batavia held a September home-coming with a large morning crowd listening to the pastor on The Home-coming Instinct of the Soul. Special music by Shields and sons and Mrs. Otis Slade accompanied the day. One hundred guests shared dinner at the Rapp property. The afternoon rally drew about two hundred as B. Nichols spoke, with others recounting past Bantam ties. Music by Batavia orchestra and soloists followed. Former residents returned for reunions and Batavia attendees joined in.
The 48th annual reunion of the 69th Regiment O W I convenes at Lake Allyn on Saturday October 2 1915 starting at 10 a m The program includes Opening Song America Invocation Welcome Address by Hon C C Kearns God be with you til we meet and a luncheon plus afternoon readings and addresses The gathering may be the last due to advancing age and dwindling numbers with activities led by Rev T J Simpson Miss Elizabeth Walker Mrs Blanch W Thompson Judge J B Swing Miss Louise Abbott and others.
The new Church of Christ in Hillsboro was dedicated on September 12 with large attendance. Morning services showed the indebtedness near 9000 dollars, but the evening gathering raised 1010 dollars, surprising residents of Hillsboro and Highland county. The effort involved active committees and persistent work, ending in joyful celebration.
Special session last Saturday closed county work for the year before the new board took office Monday. William Shane was elected president. Monroe township road vacancy requested by 12 freeholders will be heard October 18. Three janitor applicants were P. C. Alexander, Geo. Gunderley, and W. P. Rush, who was selected and started work. The board will meet again in two weeks amid a large crowd.
The gray horse belonging to Harry Mefford broke through a board cover over a 22 foot well on a hot Thursday afternoon. The horse was pulled from the well after neighbors summoned aid and Obaer’s auto truck assisted in lifting him out.
The U S Department of Agriculture urges farmers to secure good seed for next year due to a backward corn crop in northern belt regions and the risk of frost injury. It recommends selecting best ears for seed and harvesting early ears as they mature to preserve seed stock.

After filing time closed for nominations two additional candidates join the Batavia township trustee race. W. A. Rogers and Fred Hartmetz, both of Amelia, will have their names printed on the ballot alongside other contenders. Voters must mark an X before a candidate’s name to cast a vote in November.
The congregation has secured Rev W H Spybey to resume leadership at the Batavia based M E church after a transfer to the Kentucky conference in Covington. An exchange with Rev F English will keep Spybey in charge here, to the delight of his many friends.
Last Sunday week Harry Dillman of Bethel starting a trip with Bethel high school scholars to Serpent Mound had car trouble near Georgetown. The auto refused to go farther, but three other vehicles were secured, bringing the scholars back home. Supplies were sent and the machine soon operated again.
W. O. Ferree sold his farm last week to Will Pindell of Marathon. The property lies on the pike above Batavia and is described as one of the nicest farm homes between Batavia and Williamsburg.

Filing for saloon licenses closed last Wednesday at midnight. The county may host 11 saloons with Bathavia township's two applications. Proposed sites include Williamsburg hill above Batavia and the New Richmond pike on East Fork. Nearest current saloon is in Stonelick near Owensville. Milford options total three applications. License money supports infirmary and poor funds after state payments.
Young members of the U B church announce a social in Town Hall Park on September 25 with a rain plan to move to the armory if cool or wet. Everyone is invited to attend.
The pension department in Washington DC granted pensions last Saturday to widows Mary Aultman of Moscow and Eliza Pfeifer of Felicity. Better late than never.
County anti liquor leaders gathered at Batavia on Monday September 20 to outline campaign policy and methods for the Prohibition amendment in Clermont county. J J Fuhr and J J Probst spoke, urging county and state support and urging churches and W C T U to assist.
Court notices show several actions including Barbour v Hecht over mortgage foreclosure with Nichols and Newman attorneys, and divorce actions. Other items grant leave to file petitions or replies, with partition and sale decrees for Creelman Beigel and Haho War man cases, and a Brower divorce decree for the plaintiff.
Probate court records list marriages of Elmer Parker with Flora Grause and Howard Jennings with Bessie Simons both of New Richmond. Appointments include William C. Kain as administrator of Laura A. Kain estate and Martin Pierman as executor of Caroline Pierman, deceased. Bond and inventory rules noted.
