Dan ad Staff Sergt. Thomas G Clancy of Milford is reported missing on a Southwest Pacific combat mission since Aug 14. He is a B 24 radio operator gunner based on Saipan, joined the Pacific theater in February, and is a Milford High School 1941 graduate. Other local servicemen include Lieut William R Smith who crossed to England with Bing Crosby and is a B 24 co pilot now in Ireland. Sergeant Jess B Fuller of Milford earned battlefield recognition after a No 13 disguise aided a forced landing post Normandy. Major John T Crone Jr, formerly Milford physician, left for Redistrib Center after 26 months in the South Pacific malaria control. Sergeant Edward Griswold, overseas since May, received the Distinguished Flying Cross after 28 combat missions as B 17 gunner engineer. His wife Martha Applegate and child live with her parents in Milford.
