Mr and Mrs Robert Craigmile marked their Golden Wedding Anniversary on September 12 at the home of their niece Miss Lillian Leach of Bethel. Married in Adams County on September 12 1894 Laura Belle Spann, they live in Clermont County for twenty one years and have long served in church and community activities.
At a Tuesday meeting the Withamsville Parent Teachers Association voted to renew efforts to obtain blood donors for the Red Cross Blood Donors Service. Mrs. Jack Garr is in charge of appointments and calls should be placed to Batavia 3964. Transportation will be provided for donors in the Williamsville area traveling to Cincinnati.
City officials under Mayor Munden halt church services for Sunday and suspend all public gatherings. The theater was already closed Tuesday night and all events postponed for the week.
From the Courier files dated September 24 1844 the Franklin Township Whigs announce a mass meeting at Felicity on September 20 1844. Distinguished speakers invited include W W Southgate Nelson Barrere William C Marshall James H Thompson R W Clarke and H L Penn with a committee of arrangement listed.
50 Years Ago item notes wedding plans for P. F. Jameson and Miss Bessie Griffith of Batavia with ceremony at the brides aunt Mrs Belle Kennedy home on Main Street September 26. Also announces Frank A. Roberts to wed Eva White September 25 at the Presbyterian Church. Republican campaign opens in Ohio with Governor McKinley as speaker at Findlay.

Sargent First Class Robert H. Binning, once a Perintown resident, survived a torpedo attack that killed 26 shipmates and later left on leave to his parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Binning. The latest patient, 11 year old Tom Pancher, is hospitalized in Cincinnati as Batavia School and Theater shut down. Local officials urge two weeks of street curfew for children while the health commissioner defers centralized action.
The dedication ceremonies for the new Water Works Dam were postponed due to measures against the spread of infantile paralysis. Attendees and speakers were among those affected, including Representatives John Haden and H A Waters.

Glen Este second class Pettie Officer Owen Billingsley has returned to his Michigan station after a five day furlough with his wife and son and other relatives. Mrs Foster of Batavia visited granddaughter Mrs Albert Miller the past week. Mrs George Patterson visits son Bert and family at Mt Crab. Miss Betty Philhower called on Mrs Ed Hubeey Thursday evening. Mrs Phil Sperry spent Saturday in Norwood with her daughter Louise Philips. Mr George Aukermiller was ill the past week.
Batavia Grange will meet Thursday evening the 21st. At a recent meeting fifty-one service men and women were honored. A cookie contest featured the event and was won by Mrs. Harry with her Oat Meal Cookies.
Father Westerhouse announces St Peters Church New Richmond Homecoming on September 23 and 24 with games and festivities. Public invited. organizers expect a record crowd.

Milford and Mulberry schools shut last Thursday after the first infantile paralysis case in the area. Four year old Kenneth Ray Eigher, son of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Eigher, Milford, checked into Children’s Hospital with a mild case. Classes paused as a precaution until September 25 and nearby districts Miami and Wayne Township suspended high school activities as well. The Family Theater in Milford also closed until September 24.
Milford officials indicate the 1945 budget calls for a village levy of 2.60 plus a school budget of 11.30. Total Milford tax rate may reach 18.00 or more, up from 16.50, with county and township levies to make up the remainder. Officials cite salary increases and rising operating costs as the driver, noting impact of reassessment remains to be learned.
