West Clermont Students to Open Restaurant on Oct 2
West Clermont vocational students in the Home Economics program will reopen the Gym Restaurant at 550 Cincinnati Batavia Pike on Tuesday October 2 from 1130 am to 1 pm. Twenty five junior and senior students operate the restaurant under teachers Wilma Dindler and John Evans as part of a two year Food Service program.

County Expands Sick Pay on Retirement for County Workers
Clermont County employees will receive full pay for all accumulated sick leave at retirement, under a recently approved agreement. Previously, unused sick leave was forfeited at retirement. The plan initially proposed a 120 day cap but settled on 100 percent payout. The commissioners also reviewed a request to close a 40 foot alley on Mill Street between the Gilbert Sipple and Mark Trees properties with a decision due in five days.

Appellate Court Finds Zoning Action Illegal
The First District Court of Appeals ruled last week that a zoning change approved at a special meeting held at the township clerk’s home was not conducted in a legal public meeting. The prior hearings on the request by Arthur C. Weidenbein occurred at the township hall, with no decision, and the court cited the Ohio Revised Code mandating public meetings in public places.

Marshal Probes Three Area Fires In Clermont County
State fire marshal is investigating three fires reported last Wednesday in Clermont County. Two barns and a vacant dwelling owned by Norman Fisher near Newtonsville were damaged on SR 133 and Meek Road, with another barn on Meek Road about 1.5 miles south of SR 133 also involved. Wayne Township Goshen and local fire departments assisted.
