Fiber program to aid Clermont youths via multi-phase drug treatment

Sheila Tepe reports a new Fiber project by Clermont County Youth to help 20 youths aged 15 to 18 with an alternative to standard drug treatment. The YSB will run the $21,000 first year plan under a 648 Board contract, including intake, evaluation, and transportation.

Freon engine pioneer discusses solar powered plant plan

Prominent inventor Wallace L. Minto discussed a freon engine that runs on solar power and a future Clermont County plant by Box International Inc. to manufacture it. He cited the nonpolluting engine, solar panels adjusting to sun, and an induction generator for night use.

Whitford to reorganize sanitation department duties

County Administrator William Whitford was temporarily assigned by the county commissioners to reorganize the sewer and water district serving 16 000 customers. He will study staffing policies and expenditures, improve field communications, and coordinate employees while addressing past issues such as customer complaint responsiveness and mileage misuse.

Batavia Mayor Charles A. Shaffer says N C Ward will resign to take a security post with his son's W W Protection Agency. The firm holds a CG E contract for Zimmer Nuclear Power Plant security. Ward has led Batavia police since 1968.
