County Administrator William Whitford may be appointed general manager of the County Sanitation Department by the county commissioners. Bruce Henry, assistant county administrator, could take over Whitford’s current duties, with Whitford’s tenure in the sanitation post left unclear. Carl Pahe is serving as acting sanitary sergeant.
A Pierce Township couple complains to county commissioners that their private Denny Drive lacks full police protection. Officials say the 16 foot wide dirt segment cannot be upgraded to county specifications, leaving the road outside the public road system and hampering enforcement. The dispute centers on legal limits and a 1953 dedication, with a verdict expected in weeks.
James Smith, CORVA board chairman, spoke at the Clermont County Human Services Board meeting on Sept 9 at Clermont College. CORVA serves Clermont Brown Adams and Highland Counties. He highlighted three new structures: the CORVA subregional council the eastern subarea medical society consortium and the Southern Ohio Health Services Network. He credited a new health planning law for progress and noted CORVA's interest in establishing emergency medical services with state support.
Clermont County plans to apply for federal Public Works funds totaling 3 to 5 million dollars as part of a 61.6 million statewide round. Bruce Henry says proposals include an adult detention center, road widening for Half Acre Road, repurposing the County Community Services Center barn, a juvenile correctional center, and a court heating cooling system. County CommissionHarold Bissantz calls the detention item a priority given aging jail built in 1937 for 24 inmates. Grants may be awarded in November with construction to begin 90 days after award. Henry notes a separate 1.5 million EDA grant for a water distribution project and a pre-application for community development act funding with hearings in November for FY76 money arriving in October.
Seven persons were appointed by Clermont County commissioners to serve on committees of a planned manpower consortium for Clermont and Warren counties. An eighth member can be named later. Warren County will appoint equal representation. The dissolution of the old consortium is officially recognized by the Department of Labor.
The draft land use plan for Clermont County is finished and a final version will be issued before public distribution. Staff. led by Donald, notes not all items meet their agreement while Tom Beckwith prepared the plan. a connector road from US 50 to Columbia Parkway is debated and O Bannon Creek sewer option is opposed for reducing serviced area.
