Death of Mrs Dorotha Wilkie in Batavia
Mrs Dorotha Wilkie wife of Gustave Wilkie superintendent of the Batavia Foundry Co died at her Batavia home Sunday afternoon after a five week illness with typhoid fever. Remains shipped to Fort Washington Wisconsin for services Wednesday burial the same day. She leaves a husband and was 88 years old.

He joined the Batavia lodge then completed the third degree in three months and last Saturday conferred the Master Mason degree on Dr Mose Griffith and Galen Weavers. A bronze 18 foot McKinley statue was unveiled September 17 before a large Dayton crowd. Carter Family Returns to Batavia After Tragedy
Thomas Carter his son Albert and daughter Nellie returned to Batavia last week from Trinidad Colorado with Mrs Carter's remains. The funeral for Mrs Carter was held last Thursday and the family plans Batavia as their future home due to Albert's health. Friends welcomed them back to the town.

Raum & Gogreve wholesale grocers of 114 East Second street Cincinnati faced months of missing goods. Detectives traced the theft to George Maham of Afton and Mike Schmitzer of Newport who loaded a wagon with groceries including sugar and were arrested. Thief Caught After Pocket Book Theft on Streetcar

William H. Everhart of Milford dies at his home after long illness at age 77. A Batavia-born Civil War veteran, he lived in Milford since after the war and leaves a widow and several grown children. Lightning Burns Bethel Pike Shop. No Insurance
During Tuesday morning’s heavy lightning on September 13, John Patton’s shop on the pike between Bethel and Williamsburg burned down with tools and about 60 bushels of potatoes inside. Patton had left a coal load on the wagon overnight. had he unloaded it, the coal would have stayed outside. Neighbors alerted the blaze, but it was out of control once help arrived.
