Ballot measures propose wide voter questions across townships and schools
The Clermont County area lists three county wide issues 12 township six village and four school questions on the November ballot. Various levies fund fire police and current expenses with renewals and new taxes including school millages Milford New Richmond Amelia Felicity Owensville Bethel Goshen Stonelick Batavia Union Monroe Washington Wayne and Milford School District all seeking continued or expanded funding.

Airport operations to continue at Clermont County Airport
Robert Parkins, president of Clermont Airways, announced that full airport operations would resume after clarifying a contract transfer issue. A third group offered to operate the facility, but it was deemed legally impossible during Clermont Airways tenure. County officials will meet with Parkins to discuss airport matters and use of a $50,000 grant for an administration building and taxi strip, with further improvements possible after deed transfer from Clermont Industrial Parks.

Oskamp Reappointed Mayor of Owensville After Resignation
Louis G. Oskamp, 63, is named mayor of Owensville by the Council to fill the term left by Earl Curry. Oskamp previously served as mayor in 1965 and 1966 and was defeated by Curry in 1967 by 20 votes. The police chief post also awaits action as two former part-time patrolmen provide protection while trustees seek a 2.5 mill levy for police services this fall.

Utilities Select Moscow As Site For Giant Nuclear Plant
Cincinnati Gas & Electric Columbus & Southern Ohio Electric and Dayton Power & Light plan a 240 million nuclear plant in Clermont County near Moscow Ohio to serve customers in southwestern central Ohio and northern Kentucky. The 4 48 million kilowatt unit will be owned by the three utilities with CGE holding 37 percent CSOE 32 percent and DP&L 31 percent and built and operated by CG&E. A second unit of similar size is under negotiation as officials say the plant will provide cheaper power and slow rising electric costs.

The Alleghany Airlines disaster near Indianapolis on Sept 9 killed 83 people including Clermont County residents Jacob J. Brown 39 of Batavia and Dennis Reekers 39 of Washington. Brown was president of Cincinnati Chemical Processing Co and a business partner of Reekers. Graveside services for Brown were at Mt Moriah Cemetery Withamsville and Thompson 45 of Cold Spring Ky a director of traffic for Dr Baldwin Piano Co in Cincinnati also died with services at St Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. The Clermont County DAV Chapter 63 plans its Forget-Me-Not sale for Sept 20.
