Beagle field trials to be staged Sunday at 1 30 on the W Thornton Bogart farm along the Afton Elk Lick road. Clermont Sportsmen Inc sponsors with Jas H Winnes in charge. 13 inch and 15 inch classes compete and dogs may be entered before 1 p m. A boy and Beagle parade is planned. Russell Ravenscroft is Field Marshall. Lunch will be served.

Wool Load Recovered From River After Ferry Accident
A truck-load of wool valued at 5000 dollars was salvaged from the Ohio River at New Richmond. The Nobis Supply Company vehicle broke loose when the ferry moved and slid into the water while the ferry was being towed from Kentucky to New Richmond. Salvage is expected for all wool. Glasgow Woolen Mills received the shipment.

Championship Baseball Game Set For Sunday
On Sunday one of the season’s largest crowds watched Ama Ha defeat Owensville to deny them a county league title bid. At Clermont County Fair Grounds Amelia posted nine runs with homer by Del Leslié and strong hitting led by Cann Carter and Vic Leslie. Owensville rallied in the ninth but fell short as Amelia moved toward the upcoming league series, which begins next Sunday.

Outstanding Flower Show Exhibits Impress Batavia Judges
The Batavia Garden Club annual Flower Show at the Armory drew praise from visiting judges who called it one of the best yet despite a small size. Sweep Stake winner was Mrs. Edgar Mosbacker with Mrs. Hugh Nichols and Mrs Earl Fishback placing second and third. A standout piece titled Song of the South by Mrs. Jean Laffleur and Mrs. Doris South replicated a Southern mansion scene with handcrafted details. Junior winners were Judy K. Fishback Rex Ely first, Audrey Clark second, Betty Lakemire Betty Rae Ross and Kathleen Barbeau third. State Route 132 in Goshen Township will receive a bituminous treatment with work to finish by Oct 15, 1948, as bids on this and other state projects were opened in Columbus this week.

Fire House to Be Built at Batavia
The Batavia village council approved a new 24 by 40 foot fire house to be built on part of the Town Hall lot. Ralph Murphy and Earl Erion will supervise. The concrete structure will house village and township fire trucks and an office for the mayor and council. Original municipal plans were altered due to high costs.

Miss Rosemary Halbisch daughter of Clermont County Probate Judge Orville Halbisch married Victor Mack Gribbett son of Mr and Mrs Byron Cribbett in Batavia Catholic Church chapel. Ceremony at 635 pm attended by immediate family. The couple honeymooned at Virginia Beach and will reside with the judge and his wife upon returning while plans are made for a home. State of Ohio disbursed 140 million in bonuses to more than 435,000 veterans and next of kin across 88 counties from April 28 to August 31, 1948. Clermont County saw 1,822 claims totaling 562,018.78, with daily payments around 1,000. Next of kin claims totaled 1,186,387.72 averaging 385 each, handled by a special section to speed processing.
