Man Fatally Injured Near Afton Train Tracks
A Sunday morning incident on the N. W. & Afton line left a stranger badly cut after a freight train wheel passage. He was found by the train crew near Batavia, given first aid, and taken to a city hospital. Suspected a fall from the freight while stealing a ride.

Reunion of Civil War veterans in Milford set for September 18
The Courier reports a reunion of the Southwestern Ohio Association of Civil War veterans and survivors of the 8th and 16th Ohio to take place in Milford on September 18 starting at 10 a.m. The W. R. will serve dinner for 500 attendees.

First Oil Remittance Reaches Clermont Villages
Clermont county villages received their first oil collections check last Friday after four months of law. Batavia got 341 dollars, about 100 dollars monthly, to be used for street and road repair before winter. The money comes from auto license funds and direct taxes, benefiting local roads through tarvia or oil.

George L. Evans of Buford breeds a 14 pig litter weighing 4409 pounds at 180 days, averaging 315 pounds each. He claims a potential world record pending future efforts, with the heaviest pig at 342 pounds and a lightest at 281 pounds. The dam Giant Maid No. 1254064 produced multiple litters, totaling 62 pigs in four litters from the same sire Big Bone Model.
