Local elections see petitions filed by candidates through September 2 with many offices open. The non partisan ticket lists trustees clerks treasurers and mayors across Batavia Amelia Felicity Goshen Jackson Miami Locust Corner and many villages and townships with write in options available where unopposed.
The Batavia I O O F lodge room gains praise after a new papered wall, painted scenes by Allen Glancy, and oak grained woodwork. Daughters of Rebekah initiate two candidates with about 65 visitors from Mt Carmel Goshen and Marathon. The Mt Carmel lodge later sees two candidates receive second and third degrees with 86 members present.

A fiscal report for Clermont County shows the August distribution's aftermath. It details overdrawn funds including bridge and infirmary, notes bond proceeds, and lists numerous receipts and expenses such as auditors and treasurers fees, Pike purchase, sinking funds, and the enacted balance figures.
Batavia announces the 1915-16 school opening next Monday with Prof. Blair as head, aided by Lee Stoltz Long Burlew Johnson Horn and Townsley. Buildings and grounds are ready, enrollment expected large, last year judged strongest, and Batavia invites county pupils to a first grade education with special inducements at the high school.
The Clinton county probate court jury verdict sets the site price for the new court house at 60 185 dollars after five days of condemnation suits. Owners valued the 16 parcels at 76800 dollars and the building commission offered 60070 dollars. Batavia public schools begin September 18 with registration on the 13th. Clinton Cowen, State Highway Commissioner, says construction will proceed on the State Pike between Batavia and Olive Branch. New law shifts county road oversight from county commissioners to the county engineer and township trustees. Four road districts per township will appoint township highway superintendents to manage district roads, with state control limited to Main market roads. Compensation drawn from township road funds. duties defined by sections 75 and 78.
A Batavia election on bonds for a new high school building resulted 205 in favor to 42 against. The west side site will include six classrooms and an auditorium that can be converted to two more rooms. The modern building is slated for dedication in September 1916.
Invitations issued for the marriage of Stella Orebaugh and Frank Edgar Whitaker of Cincinnati. The ceremony occurs Saturday September 25 at the Elgins home nine hundred and one La Fayette Street Buffalo New York. They will reside in Cincinnati after November 1.
Leslie Apple adopted son of Mr and Mrs Wilber Apple died at his home in August after a brief illness. He joined the Apple family seven years ago and was well regarded. Funeral was held Thursday from the home with burial at Lucy Run cemetery. The family receives community sympathy.
The Bethel Chautauqua began last Friday and proved a success as the committee reported over a $100 surplus after the first day. Patrons came by trolley and auto from the countryside and season tickets rose from 1.50 to 2.60 after the opening.
The Clermont county board of complaints completed its 16 day session last week. Many complaints were filed and heard with some reductions granted, but several cases had no room for adjustments. The board notes the difficulty of pleasing all parties due to numerous points of consideration.
Alonzo M. Dimmitt longtime Ballvia resident died last Saturday after months of failing health aged 81. Born May 18, 1834 in Bel City he served in the Civil War and held public office as county auditor four years eight months and deputy sheriff for about 40 years. Survived by his widow and four children two daughters in law Parrott and Larkin. Funeral Tuesday at 2 PM at Union Cemetery with Revs Burdsall Simpson Judge Davis presiding. Burial in Union Cemetery.
Prof H A Gossard of Wooster responds to a Kansas inquiry on Hessian fly management. Despite partial nonparticipation reducing efficiency, earlier sown fields suffered heavy fly damage while nearby fields sown after fly free seed remained largely intact, urging wider cooperation for effective control.
Little Mayme Moyer, daughter of Mr and Mrs Kyle Moyer, entertained friends on Thursday for her fifth birthday. Refreshments were served and guests enjoyed a jolly time.
Miss Lenna Hofman and Nicholas Roth formerly of Glen Rose were united in marriage last Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. by Rev. Zinn at the Zion Evangelical Reform Church in Norwood. Present from Clermont were Mr. and Mrs. C. Rose, Elbert Andrews and wife, Mrs. Louise Winters, and Mrs. Anzio Leiblang. Friends extend congratulations.
Mr Homan from near Bethel was employed to teach the Afton school for four months in place of J S Halick who is on the sick list. Miss Daisy Ely will teach the lower room and Miss Julia Sullivan is engaged to teach Moore’s Fork school this coming winter.

Chas H Needham, lecturer, will address the public at the Baetavia Court House on Wednesday night September 8 at 7 45. Topic is Why Crucify Ohio Citizenship on a Cross of Gal. The public is invited to attend.
Remodeling of Fellcity school building proceeds with a new room planned and a high school to be established this year. The corps of teachers includes Superintendent Harley Hamilton of Eckmanesville Adams County, assistant principal R E Noelker, Mrs Lulu Bonar, Miss Nellie Wyatt, and Miss Georgia Richards.
The 27th annual reunion of the 6ill Ohio Volunteer Cavalry Association will be at Loveland Ohio on Saturday September 18 1915. All members are urged to attend. Colonel Thos A Heath president Loveland and Frank D Leeds secretary Georgetown Ohio.
In Remington the special school precinct recorded only 18 meme voters. Candidates failed to meet the 2 percent petition requirement, prompting intervention by the women. The note corrects the number to percent as used by county and state authorities.
