The ninth annual Cler mont County Christian Endeavor Union meeting took place in Edenton on Tuesday August 30 despite a warm day and a revised program. Junior exercises The Little Builders and Patriotic Drill impressed attendees as Mrs Matilda Doughman led the youngsters. Rev E M Bell of Manchester gave a strong address and Rev Ellison of Cincinnati delivered The Quiet Hours. On Monday night the up-train lost a boy, Willie Gleason, son of Conductor Mike Gleason, who fell from the train while it moved at speed. He was badly bruised about the head and shoulders but not considered in danger. The train backed up to recover him after the accident.
