Flea Market and Auction Set for Amelia Bicentennial Park

Amelia American Legion Post 773 will hold a flea market and auction at Maple Grove Park on SR 125 in Amelia. The flea market runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the auction 2 to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be available. Donations may be brought Friday to the park building or picked up by calling 753-5111 or 753-4290.

The West Clermont Junior Women's Club sponsors a 50s dance on Saturday September 30 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at American Legion Post 318 in Anderson Township. DJ Jim LaBarbara “Music Professor” from WLW Radio headlines. Admission is $11 per couple with proceeds to the Shrines Burns Institute. Historical bus tour planned by Clermont County Society

Batavia meeting at Cincinnati Gas and Electric auditorium on Friday September 8 at 8 p.m. features a film on The Hammersmith made in Williamsburg Virginia. Final plans for a October 15 bus tour with stops at Bainbridge Dental Museum Seip Mound Adena and Mound City Group. Tour cost 12.25 includes transportation admissions and buffet meal. Public invited to meeting and tour.

Bike A Thon Bethel Clermont ACS 1978 Ride

The Clermont County Unit of the American Cancer Society schedules a Bike-A-Thon on Sunday at Bethel High School. The 21 mile ride starts at 1 p.m. with 12 noon registration, rewards top pledges with a Ten Speed bicycle and offers shirts and patches for all riders. Cincinnati Stingers players Rick Dudley and Mike Martens will attend.

Clermont College Prepares for Seventh Year Enrollment

Clermont College, affiliated with the University of Cincinnati in Batavia, urges prospective day and evening students to register now as they plan autumn schedules. The college offers 23 two year associate programs, 16 technical and seven transfer oriented, plus a wide range of general education, career and noncredit classes. The September class list includes courses in accounting, economics, machine tools, English, history, psychology and real estate.

Clermont County 24 hour crisis counseling starts with 621 CARE

The Clermont County Community Board of Mental Health and Mental Retardation launches a 24 hour emergency counseling service under a contract with 621 CARE signed August 28, 1978. Telephone counseling covers self harm, relationship conflicts, emotional difficulties, sexuality, and survival needs, with backup access to the Clermont County Mental Health Center after hours and on holidays via 621 CARE.

Clermont Parks Draw 27000 Weekend Visitors

A holiday weekend brought more than 27,000 people to Clermonts two state parks. East Fork hosted 13,000 visitors for water sports and hiking while Stonelick attracted 14,558 visitors and 2,664 campers. Statewide traffic toll reached 16.

Clermont County jails face housing crisis and prison relocations

Clermont County must find new jails as the Common Pleas Court denial triggers prisoner housing moves. Since 122 inmates have been sent to CCI in the past year and 13 remain, the county contemplates shutting the jail if conditions do not improve. A hearing was held this month and Judge Rubin will rule on the suit based on its findings.
