County Educator Appointed State School Examiner

County Supt. H. C. Aultman received a telegram from State Supt. F. B. Pierson appointing him a state school examiner for five years. The five member board includes Aultman, a leading Clermont educator praised for his diligent work and recognition.

Final hearing probate for Lena P Spargur Patterson estate

Probate court under Judge Worley admitted the will and two codicils of Lena P Spargur Patterson but rejected a memorandum disposing about 10 000 in jewelry and personal effects. The will dates Aug 24 1917 with a memorandum from Aug 21 1915, and codicils dated Nov 8 1917 and Jan 29 1918. Miss Jennie Penn Mrs Walker and Ashburn family are named in the estate.

Conscription of Doctors and Ohio Registration Plan

Ohio moves to organize a volunteer medical reserve corps under federal war plans. About 7,000 physicians across 88 counties will be canvassed to join, with a Washington central board and state committees evaluating qualifications. Draft-board exemptions may apply for under 45 physicians, while others will serve civilian needs or active military roles as needed. Local registrations set for September 12 at Odd Fellows Hall Amelia with named chief registrars for each precinct.

Clermont County War Savings Drive Urges September Push

The War Savings Committee urges Clermont County draftees to sell 60 stamps each in September. Veterans who already sold 50 000 stamps vow to press on, with final results to publish each draftee's name and stamp total by month end. TM. G. Severe April Storm Drops Temperatures Across Ohio Valley

Heavy rainfall from Friday's storm measured at about one and a half inches in just over an hour. Temperatures plunged from 82 to 64 as winds reached around 20 mph in some areas. The system appears extensive across the Ohio Valley with most rain absorbed by the ground.

Doctors Volunteer for Government Service in Clermont County

Doctors from Clermont county met at the Court House in Batavia on Sunday at the call of Dr. Mason of Felicity and all signed to volunteer their services to the government and to go where needed. The government will not deprive any locality of doctors but will require a line on all who can be called.

The 100th anniversary of Old Bethel church will be observed September 15 with an all day meeting. Readings, recitations, solos, duets and a quartet are listed in the day long program led by Rev. Williams, Dist. Supt. Ketchum, and Rev. Brown among others.

The Ansteet family reunion gathered last Friday at Jacob Ansteet’s house south of town with a large turnout and a noon dinner. The Lytle reunion, held on Labor Day at the Lytle homestead above town, drew many attendees for the annual meeting and a basket dinner.

Adams County voters showed strong bias against Blair in the recent congressional contest. Five hundred locals are ready to sting the chautauqua orator, punishing his last minute attack on Hon. C. Kearns. Blair unintentionally boosted Kearns as critics recalled past deterring actions.

Farmers vacating land for nitrate plant operations

The farming population of the land now used by the nitrate plant is rapidly leaving. By September 16 all former owners are expected to be gone and the land turned over to the operators. Many families, including elderly members, have moved to Milford and Cincinnati, while others will seek new farms nearby.

Quiet Sunday War Gasoline Morale Appeal

Sunday saw the quietest week end since cars began. The public largely followed urging to conserve gasoline to support the war effort. Garages and gas stations felt the impact while auto drivers faced lighter work as citizens pledged to help if officials request more savings.
