Batavia public schools open Monday September 8 at 9 am. Half day for first session. cafeteria opens September 9. High school registration Friday 1 to 4 pm or Saturday 11 am to 2 pm. Seventh and eighth grade register Monday. Bus service uses last year’s schedule. parents urged to assist in registration and note staffing for 1941 42.
Batavia Rotarians suffer first elimination loss in an eleven inning game at Deer Creek. Max Elkus Stars win 4 to 3 with a solo tally in the 11th. Frank Danner hit a two run shot for Batavia, as Batavia and Oessner Tavern, Wolf Drugs, Max Elkus stay alive in the Greater Cincinnati race. Next Sunday Batavia meets Oelsner Taverns at Stewart Field Madisonville before a possible final.
Beef ranks first and beet ranks second in American preferences, reflecting strong demand for meat and vegetables. The findings show Beef ahead of other staples with notable interest in both January surveys and consumer polls.
Ohio State University dairy specialist Mr. Ivan McKellip will speak to Clermont County dairymen on Friday September 5 at 8:00 p m in the Batavia courthouse basement. The Uniform Traffic Act planned repeal of Section 12604 was dropped after opposition, leaving protections for horses on highways intact as Ohio streamlines traffic laws.

All male citizens interested in the Boy Scout program are urged to attend and meet Mr Evenson and Mr Frank Dix Assistant Regional Executive who will aid in the mobilization plan.
The Bulow family gathering took place at Mrs. Anna Bulow Anstaett’s Newtonsville home on Sunday August 31 with a basket dinner for 44 attendees. Present were Mr. Leonard Anstaett and family, Clyde Anstaett and children, Marian, Clark and Jean Allen, and many others including Dr. R J Norris and daughter, Mrs. Carrie Utter and children, and Mr. and Mrs. George Davis with their youngs.

Clermont county residents will see a tax decrease across the county despite rising national taxes. The average across 75 districts falls by 30 cents, with 60 districts staying normal or dropping and 15 rising. New building valued at over $400 000 on the tax list helps drive the drop as the year 1941 duplicate updates. The overall effect equates to about one tenth mill countywide.
