Clermont County to get $100000 state funds for two facilities
State Senator Cooper Snyder announced that Clermont County will receive more than $100,000 from the state for construction and related costs at two mental retardation facilities. The Batavia Developmental Center gets $8,003 for Owensville roof repairs and canopy. the Owensville training center will shelter nonambulatory children and serve 235 after expansion, with total project cost $1,125,048.

Sheriff raid reports and county industry notes in Clermont
Sheriff Fred Croswell and Deputy Carl Dawson led a Sunday night enforcement tip into Clermont County with arrests in Chile and New Richmond for whiskey transport and possession. A Batavia judge fined a Chile man 700 dollars and committed him until costs are paid. The still was out of commission. The C. E. Bates Canning Factory near Blanchester started 1925 with 75 workers, canning capacity 93 cans per minute. The Peerless Creamery opens a Georgetown receiving station with Lee Marshall in charge, handling dairy products eggs and poultry for sale locally.

Citizens urge audit as shuffle ends plan to form task force
In March 1982 Concerned Citizens urged a local task force to investigate the Welfare Department's Children's Services. Commissioners canceled the plan, hiring the Institute for Human Services in Columbus for a May 1982 evaluation and an earlier 1981 contract for training. The group warns of political maneuvering and asks Congressman Willis Gradison to help preserve their goals.
