Officials weigh Corps cost share for regional sewage project
Area officials pressed the U S Army Corps of Engineers to share the costs of the middle East Fork sewage plan. They seek guaranteed reservoir flow to protect East Fork Lake and cost shares for Bethel and Amelia Batavia plant expansions plus $30 000 a year for added operations. A study of upstream runoff and remedies was urged while officials warned of potential four year delays before plants operate.

Clermont expands alcoholism counseling and prevention program
Council on Alcoholism in Clermont plans to expand counseling and prevention efforts as national alcohol abuse rises. Since county-wide operation began in January it handles about 40 referrals monthly and will broaden school programs, human service consultations, DWI offender information to prevent re conviction, and future employer outreach to detect and refer alcohol problems.
