Hop G W Hulick had a near miss when a harness failed on a hill leading to a phaeton crash. The judge stepped back into a rear embasure, relieving pressure as a fractious horse kicked, narrowly avoiding serious injury during a court day.
John Eugene Harding born June 27 1877 in Excelle Butler County is presented as a promising candidate for State Senator representing the Second Fourth District. He studied at Amanda public schools Pennsylvania Military College Chester and earned a LL B from the University of Michigan before practicing law in Michigan and establishing a Middletown Ohio office. He leads the Business Men's Club and helped form a major local club alongside involvement with the Middletown Boat Club.
The Courier reports Frederick Annewendr of Mt. Carmel died of heart disease after pursuing boys who stoned his house. His daughter requested a police investigation from Cincinnati police to uncover why the attack occurred. Autopsy confirms heart disease as the cause of death, but the assault motive remains unexplained.
The Republican State campaign is to be formally opened September 19 with possible dates September 26 discussed by the state executive committee at 10 am. Adlapatoh Indiana reports Henry F. Pohlman fled and filed for divorce from his wife. He claims his wife is “loth wife” and a matrimonial venture for amusement. A note suggests the man may be the Henry Pohlman once of Greensburg.
Prof. Sanford L Turnipseed named school examiner by Judge Paxton to succeed Prof. George W Witham who led Moscow schools for 12 years. Turnipseed, superintendent of New Richmond for two terms, earns popular favor for his capable, genial leadership.
The Clinton Republican reports Republicans nominated Eugene Harding of Butler county as State Senator. Harding, a Middletown paper manufacturer, is popular in his home county. P F Jamieson of Carroll Jamieson Tool Manufacturing says he secured subscriptions for almost the full 8000 capital increase and plans immediate expansion.
