Anti Backlash Fishing Attachment at Clermont Centennial Fair

Clermont County fishermen saw a simple device to prevent reel backlash at the Owensville Centennial Fair. Harry J. Tepfer of Cincinnati perfected the rust proof attachment after ten years, with Luther Cole handling sales for the Clermont Sportsmen and Peter Paian distributing to dealers in the Coast area. The device fits 97 percent of reels, mounts quickly, uses a small brake shoe, and stops line immediately when pressure on the wire decreases.

Clermont Local Produce Stand Owner Keeps Open Daily Since 1927

H. E. Sroufe, 78, runs a Stonelick bridge area produce stand on Route 50 that has never closed for a full day since its 1927 opening. He rarely leaves the stand and ensures a family member is always present to serve customers. He borrowed and has repaid money for his home, and relies on the business for most income. Seasonal stocks include fruits and vegetables, with winter staples like potatoes and honey. He notes eggs from Rooster's farm at Williams Corner, used for fifteen years, are consistently fresh. Formerly a Cincinnati Street Railway motorman, he is confident he owes no one.
