Batavia reports the annual Election Day luncheon at First U.M. Church will run 11 a.m. to 7 30 p.m. extending hours for poll workers and voters. Menu includes vegetable and bean soups, chicken and beef sandwiches, slow, homemade desserts, coffee tea and milk.
Locust Corner United Methodist offers a community meal for election day with servings starting at 8 a.m. A midday menu features vegetable soup barbecue hot dogs and coney islands from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A roast beef dinner runs from 4 p.m. Desserts will be available all day and a white elephant table is listed as a special attraction.
Democratic headquarters set at 165 Main Street in the Old Jeff Wyler building Batavia and remains open daily through election day. An election night party begins at 8 p.m. with results announced there and literature available for pickup. Call 732-2226 or 732-1600 for information.
A Withamsville Park event sponsored by West Clermont Football offers a Super Bowl party dance on Saturday November 1 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $15 per couple with BYOB. Owensville St. Louis Church hosts an annual Turkey Dinner and Festival on Sunday November 2 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Complete dinners with all the trimmings priced at adults three dollars and children one fifty. The event offers continuous social games booths handcrafted prizes cash awards and ample parking space.
Voters head to polls for the General Election to decide national, state, and local candidates and issues. Polls open from 6 30 am to 7 30 pm as Clermont County residents weigh statewide constitutional amendments on allotment.
Republican incumbent Harold Bissantz faces challengers George Pattison and Melvin Reifin in Clermont County prosecutor race. Pattison resides Milford with address 1091 Raintree Drive and candidate home listed at 5955 McPicken Drive. County Clerk Russell L. Simmons also seeks the post as the contest continues on page 2.
Franklin Township seeks an additional one mill tax for five years to fund service. Goshen Town Police District renews .9 mill for police. Pierce Township renews 8 mills for a continuing period for fire protection. Washington area adds an extra tax for Ailata Schools. New Richmond Exempted School District proposes .5 mill for five years for current expenses. Felicity votes an additional 5 mills for five years. New Richmond renews .5 mill for ambulance service and parcels of 382 and 75 acres. Local options include Union Township precincts P and M for Sunday sales.
Representatives for restaurants failed to appear at the Board of Health meeting. On October 8 they were cited for not correcting violations found during a second inspection.
Gov. James A. Rhodes is scheduled to be in Clermont County on Wednesday October 29 with events planned across the area. Local officials expect Rhodes to discuss state issues and meet community leaders during the visit.
Zimmer Area Citizens hosts a forum where candidates debate who will fund the disaster plan. Attendees ask about costs, responsibilities, and the role of local government in financing mitigation efforts.
