Memorial Services for Charles Henry Johns in Bantam
Memorial services were held in Bantam for Charles Henry Johns who died overseas in the defense of his country. Col Freibus spoke. seventeen uniformed soldiers attended with many friends. Johns, born January 20 1892 in Bantam, served in the National Guard, joined the 3rd division 148th infantry, and died October 81 in France. His brother Clarence survived after being wounded. His body rests in the American Field of Honor at Waereheim Belgium.

S. B. Meyers of Goshen and J. W. Meyers of Defiance Ohio visited Batavia on Thursday for the first time in 58 years. J. W. Meyers, Civil War veteran, served three years and remains active at 16 year old vigor, running a productive truck farm. All three brothers have marked their 50th wedding anniversaries and continue vigorous lives while attending court.
