19th Annual Meet of Farm Bureau in Clermont County

Clermont County Farm Bureau will hold its 19th annual meeting in Batavia at the U B Church basement on Monday evening November 6 with a banquet at 7 15 and a business session including reports from regional farm groups. Williamsburg Garden Club Installs New Officers In Ceremony

Mrs W E Gardner and Mrs J A Ashton hosted the Williamsburg Garden Club as installing officer Mrs Mark Atchley and conductress Mrs W G Daugherty led the service. Officers sworn in include Harvey McKeever president, D G De Vore vice president, Anna Muzzy secretary, Pearl Long treasurer. A Flower of the Bible guided seed and bulb saving for next year. Cecile Glancy won top prizes in contests with Miss Glancy also claiming a prize. Anna Muzzy won the Home Beautification award in the County Grange Contest. A lunch of French pastry grapes and coffee followed.

Edwardses celebrate 59th wedding anniversary at Amelia

Mr and Mrs M Edwards of Amelia were honored Sunday Oct 22 by Mr and Mrs B L Ketchum for their 59th anniversary. Relatives from Mt Holly Hamlet Locust Corner Lindale Forestville attended along with Leota Liston and Ruth Tilton families as gifts and well wishes followed by continued good health and happiness.

Rotary Club Halloween Party Planned in Batavia

The Batavia Rotary Club will hold its annual Halloween party at the Armory on Tuesday evening beginning at 7:80. Batavia High School Band will provide music, and a parade from the Armory will award prizes for best costumes. Committee urges all to come masked.

Bang's Tests Began October 23 in County

Area bang s disease testing started Monday October 23 in Monroe and Union townships with 359 herds in Miami township already tested. Officials report over 98 percent participation countywide and less than 2 percent infection found to date under voluntary plan. Testers include Dr. Knusely Herd Johnson ONeill Belden and Dr. Sayer leads pruning and appraising work.

Community Supper at Greenberry to Aid Church Projects

Clermont County Jail Opens with 14 Inmates

For the first time in almost a year no Clermont County prisoners remain in Hamilton County jail. Thirteen inmates were transferred to the new $60,000 Clermont County jail Monday night by Sheriff Garland G. Auxier and Deputies Frank Abbott and Frank Perry. The first guest was W. Frank Robbins of Amelia, picked up last week for issuing a check without funds. The 13 transfers bring total prisoners to 14.

Clermont County Income By Source In 1988 Reveals Dairy Lead

In 1988 Clermont County received 87 percent of income from dairy and dairy products, 20 percent from poultry, 14 percent tobacco, 12 percent hogs, 6 percent fruit, 5 percent truck, and 6 percent from all other sources. Earlier periods show varied gross cash income with 1927 at $825 and 1929 at $880 according to the Department of Rural Economics.

Burglary Cases Set For Common Pleas Court This Week

Two criminal cases are to be heard in Common Pleas Court this week. Prosecutor Frank Roberts will present the state against Paul Croswell 25 Felicity indicted for burglary of two hen houses on July 21 and August 4. A second burglary case against WB Lisle of Cincinnati for Hi Port Bottling Works storeroom in Batavia on July 16 is scheduled Saturday.

Clermont County farmers report the worst weevil damage in memory with corn crib moths and worm destruction. Control relies on fumigation with carbon bisulfide at specified rates, timing, and safety precautions, including closing granaries and proper storage to prevent reinfestation.

Clermont County Grand Jury Reports Indictments From October Session

The October term Clermont County Grand Jury reported to Judge Charles G. White after a day and half. It examined 20 witnesses across 10 cases, returned five true bills and ignored five. Indictments: Gillis Hopkins, Leonard Tankersley, Glenn Higby, John Iker, Buetin Walker, Orville Corbin, Clayton Hitt, and W Frank Robbins for various truck part thefts, attempted burglary, beer possession, and bad checks. Falls From Tree Injures Marathon Youth

Vern Yeager of Marathon aged 20 fell from a tree while gathering hickory nuts on Sunday. He was unconscious for a time with a badly bruised head an injured arm and a severely shaken body. First aid was given by Dr J K Ashburn and he was taken to St Mary's Hospital in Cincinnati by Moore's ambulance.

Dam Proposal to Restore Water Supply on East Fork River

The East Fork of the Little Miami River runs exceptionally low with two miles drained to the Bata intake. Farmers and families haul water daily in 10-bbl tanks for stock and home use. A 4 foot high concrete and steel dam with an east side drainage gate is proposed at the Loghole riffle near O Maleys to secure water for all time.
