Batavia Local School District seeks a $610,000 bond issue and operating levies after State Board approval. The plan would raise district taxes by $9 per thousand in 1964, with anticipated growth by 1965 reducing the rate to about $33.90 per thousand as new buildings boost assessed value.

Marko Paliobagis chairs the West Clermont PTA committee urging voters to approve a 2.5 mill operating levy. The plan funds higher starting teacher salaries, retains trained staff, and covers 66,000 extra district costs from shortages. The levy equals 2.50 per $1,000 of assessed value, about 15 annually on a $6,000 home.

Owensville report says 14 year old Thomas Steinecker of Batavia was struck riding a bicycle on Rt. 50 west of Owensville. He sustained head injuries and a fractured left leg after entering the car’s path driven by Mrs. Emma Roger of Cincinnati. He was taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, then transferred to Terrace Park Squad ambulance due to a flat tire.
About 200 people attended a Batavia High School session on Caesar Creek and East Fork reservoirs. Rep. William H. Harsha and Col. Willard Roper outlined plans and costs 14.4 million and 17.2 million with a 1966 construction target. four years to build after funds, yielding flood control benefits and regional economic impact.
Dr. John F. Winkle lists 27 organizations backing a $2.1 million bond issue and five year operating levy for a Clermont County Hospital. Supporters include the Clermont Medical Society, Batavia Life Squad, Batavia Rotary, and county civic groups. The bond would cost 67 cents per $1000 and the levy 65 cents per $1000, with hospital plans to open as an 100 bed facility and boost patient access locally rather than Cincinnati.
BATAVIA On the ballot two measures seek to fund a new 100 bed Clermont County Hospital. A $2.1 million bonds issue would cover construction equipment and furnishing at 0.67 in property value. A 65 cents per $1000 tax for five years would support operating costs if deficits arise in year one.
Dr Albert Andersen former Amelia high school counselor and Xavier University associate professor will moderate a PTA panel at Amelia Junior and Senior High School on Oct 27 at 8 p.m. The theme Father Knows Best covers Going Steady Early Dating Youths Career and Personal choices. Panelists include Rev Dallas Eubanks Charles Long Walter Minnick C E Ward and William Campbell with Rev Gerard Everest giving the devotional and a male quartet providing music.
