Fire Brings Heavy Damage in Monterey and Hamlet
In Monterey Route 50 a blaze caused over $8,000 in damage to the Walter Blevins home as fire crews from Owensville Williamsburg Blanchester and others battled the flames amid water shortages and a four unit response. Damages included $6,000 to the building and $2,000 to furniture with $6,000 insured. In Hamlet Dale Lanz home on Route 132 suffered about $2,500 damage from a morning fire started by an attic electrical fault. Firefighters reported the roof and attic as the main origin with smoke and water damage to clothing and interior items totaling roughly $300.

Raid at Edenton private club reported by sheriff
A private club on Route 131 between here and Camp's Corner was raided by the Clermont County sheriff's office either Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Sheriff Clyde B. Dericks declined to confirm the raid but said those involved were jailed with a hearing set for November 3.

Two Cars Collide At Goshen Intersection
An auto driven by Merrild E. Jacobs age 16 of Route 1 Coraddale collided with Annabel Bin- age 27 Goshen at 8 15 a m Tuesday at Route 132 Belfast Roads intersection. Jacobs 12 sister of Merrild was a passenger in the bus car. All three involved were uninjured.

Polling Location Change Protests Heard In Ohio Hearings Set
The Clermont County Board of Elections will hold public hearings on polling place protests at 2 p.m. Thursday October 21 in the Felicity school gym for Franklin North Felicity East and West Precincts and at 3 30 p.m. in the Moscow School gym for Moscow Precinct with a final decision on polling locations for the November 2 election to follow. Full information on all polling place changes will be released the week of October 25.

Three Children Hospitalized After Bus Fume Incident
In Newtown Ohio 38 students were on a St John Fisher Church bus to Our Lady of Loretto School when 24 were overcome by carbon monoxide fumes. Driver William Ratliff reported a pinched exhaust line caused the fumes. 12 year old Don Deimling opened an emergency door, saving several. Three children were admitted to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital and others treated at the firehouse.
