Bike Boys at Amelia Race Draws 500 Spectators
More than 500 people attended bicycle races in Amelia last Saturday. In the county 8 mile event Lutes led from the start to win a set of $9 tires in 27 minutes 15 seconds, with Carr of Edenton close behind for a blanket finish. Otto Smith won a folding carrier and a floor pump earned by other riders. A second 8 mile race with Amelia riders only saw Frank Coulter take the saddle prize and Smith capture second with a bissole lamp as the crowd cheered from carriages filled with well dressed spectators.

Dead in a cornfield in Wayne Township Baby found buried in fruit-jar box
A week old baby was found buried in a cornfield on Christopher Shriner's farm Wayne Township. Coroner's inquiry found the infant naturally died at seven days old with Dr. Fomorin attending the birth. The father Edward Gennett could not bury it and fashioned a crude coffin. The mother Ella Gennett was ill. The case ruled natural causes.

PARDONED FORMERLY CONVICTED OF MURDER FREED AFTER TEN YEARS
Thomas Fry a Milford colored man was pardoned after ten years in jail for murder in the second degree. He killed butcher Cooper while fleeing a marshal and was hidden from lynching in 1840s Clermont County. Fry, previously sentenced to life, was released last Thursday under a pledge to abstain from strong drink.

Christian Conference Draws Large Attendance at Mt Holly
The Southern Ohio Christian Conference closed at the Christian church on Tuesday evening. Nearly every church in the conference was represented by pastor or delegate. Stoddard of Dayton brought boys and Bibles and entertained with cornet music. Rev Dr Long of Antioch College spoke to a crowded house and the Lord's Supper was observed. Rev H E Cutler of Dayton delivered a sermon to a large audience. About 75 ministers attended, hosted by local citizens, with assignments not yet published. Jurist Junan Prarues, Cincinnati, was on legal business there yesterday.
