Leonard Rust, famed by local elders, visited last week as guest of his sister Mrs. Sylvester Binkley. He left in 1856 and barely returned since, noting Nebraska's prosperity and calling the country the finest on earth aside from Ohio. He enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and relatives and praised the village’s improved appearance.

Bethels Big Day Draws Bethel For Autumn Jubilee
Clermont county Odd Fellows cap tured Bethel last Saturday for a general autumnal jubilee. The parade formed at 1 30 p m with Batavia and Bethel Cadet bands leading lodges of Odd Fellows and Daughters of Rebekah. Prizes were awarded to Winona Rebekah Lodge Mt Crab Batavia lodge Laclede Kennedy and others. Mrs Johnson widow of Benjamin Johnson died October 14 1906 at her daughter’s home in Bethel. She leaves several children and was deeply beloved in the community.
