Old Guard Republicans Nominate McNutt for Ohio Legislature

About 200 Clermont County Republicans met at the court house to nominate Millard F. McNutt of Williamsburg for the Ohio House vacancy caused by N. S. Stevens death. E. B. Scott chaired, T. G. Foster was secretary, and a county executive committee was chosen. The convention praised Foraker and the President and Governor, and McNutt is described as a prominent Williamsburg businessman and loyal party member.

Death Came So Quietly to Batavia Woman

Mrs. Synthesia Benton widow of Rev Benton of Kentucky died suddenly in Batavia on Thursday night. She lived on Knauer avenue with grandson Lew Manning and was found in bed by her grandson after he returned home. Coroner cites heart trouble as cause. inquest held. Funeral Sunday afternoon featured sermons by Rev Burdnall and tributes from Judge Parrott and the Woman's Club.

Washington D C Death of Mrs Enoch Johnson

Albert Johnson returned from Washington after his sister in law Mrs Enoch Johnson died at age 37. She was married thirteen years ago and was a leading Washington singer. Johnson served 25 years in the Government signal service and led the display at the Paris Exposition. She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Belated Homecomer in Hot Springs

Belated homecomer Winfield Scott Smith, remembered by old citizens, arrived at his old home after the fair. He now serves as superintendent of the Government reservation at Hot Springs Arkansas, effectively governing the town and surrounding area. He spoke of Batavia pavements and his son’s loss in spirit but exchanged greetings with friends before returning to Washington.
