Republican Rally in Bethel Seeks Big Turnout

Clarence J. Brown secretary of state will be the principal speaker at the Bethel Republican meeting on Saturday evening October 1. Gilbert Bettman offered but canceled to join President Hoover in Cleveland. Mack Sauer will open with a 7 30 appearance followed by Simon Ross and Brown. Forrest Ely will chair as local candidates are presented. The program aims to avoid conflicting with radio address. Delegations from across Clermont county are expected.

Bethel Man Dies After Street Altercation

Arch Taylor 87 of Bethel dies at Bethesda Hospital Cincinnati after being struck with an auto crank by Ed Sweeney who says he acted in self defense following Taylor's shot at him. Incident occurred September 25 at 5 30 am after a party. Taylor's condition worsened September 27 due to a brain clot. Sweeney arrested, waived examination, bound over to grand jury in 1600 dollars, now jailed.

Annual Fox Hunt Set For November 9 10 11

At the meeting of the Ohio Kentucky and Indiana Fox Hunters Association held at the Batavia Armory on Saturday night it was decided to hold the annual meet on November 9 10 and 11. Further particulars will be announced later. It was noted the largest number of dogs ever to attend will be present.

Clermonters injured in auto accident on wet pavement

Last week Rev. G. W. Hazelwood pastor of Amelia Methodist Church and his wife with Mr and Mrs E G Maddox were en route to Louisville. Their car struck an electric pole after skidding on wet pavement. Mrs Hazelwood suffered a skull fracture and was taken to a Louisville hospital. Rev Hazelwood had dental injuries and cuts. Mr Maddox received multiple cuts needing 17 stitches. Mrs Maddox had a hand and finger cut.
