Here Am I Girls of Milford Observe 45th Anniversary

Milford group Here Am I Girls marked 45 years of service with a party and program at the Methodist Church social rooms. The club began in October 1902 as a Home Missionary Society led by Miss Elizabeth Hohmeyer with 60 members ages 16 to 60. The name derived from a Bible line has stuck though age limits now include women of all ages. The Clermont County Schoolmasters Club plans its first monthly meeting at New Richmond School on Thursday October 9 hosted by Roy Thompson, superintendent.

Milford Methodist Church hosts Truman letter sesquicentennial

President Truman commends Milford Methodists as they open a Northwest Territory Methodist sesquicentennial celebration at Milford Church. A morning talk by Dr. Hazen G. Werner and an evening historical pageant mark events through next Sunday. The Batavia PTA meets Thursday October 17 at 8 p.m. All members urged to attend.

Owensville moves to curb truck and vehicle speeds with a speed enforcement plan. J L Lehrer will assist Police Chief Virgil Sewell in cracking down on speeding as trucks travel 50 to 60 mph. A state police detail may be sent to Route 50 and 132 areas. a school patrol is requested. Pierce Township forms a booster club to back road improvements, hall painting, and community use. Batavia Rotary Sponsors Gala Halloween Parade

Batavia will celebrate Halloween with a costume parade and Armory party. The Rotary club will sponsor the event with local business help. Windows will be decorated with soap art and prizes awarded for amateur art displays. The High School Band may lead the parade and several locals serve on the planning committee.

Owensville School District Bond Proposal Aims to Expand

Owensville School District seeks voter approval for a bond issue to fund a new building. The current facility, in use since 1922, is crowded and lacks adequate classrooms, library, gym, cafeteria, science and music spaces. New construction would address overcrowding, improve sanitary facilities, and restore access to athletics and postwar revenue.
