Amelia parents organize a Hootenanny at Amelia High School on Saturday evening October 26 at 8 p m. The event features folk music popular in American colleges and is led by the Amelia Junior and Senior High School Parent Teacher Association.

Boy’s Death After Vehicle Collision Near Newtonsville

Geoffrey Dugan, six, of Newtonsville, died at Children's Hospital Cincinnati from head and internal injuries after darting into a station wagon while awaiting his bus. Chalmer Spraldin, 24, of Felicity Nike Missile Base, driven bus, and Paul Berger, driver, rendered aid. State Patrolman Owens said Spraldin was not cited. Services held at Wylie Funeral Home. Geoffrey leaves parents and four siblings.

New TV Program Aimed At Schools Debuts in Clermont County

Clermont County high schools join a new TV program titled It s Academic to air Sundays from 5 00 to 5 30 pm on Channel 5 WLW TV. The series, sponsored by The Gas and Electric Company and Union Light Heat and Power, runs 26 weeks and precedes College Bowl now moving to NBC. Dr John F Winkle of Clermont County Schools notes educational value for communities served by the company. Windle and Fiat ph residents of Clermont are cited in support.

SPCA President Lists Society's Accomplishments

The Ciemens County Humane Society reports a strong 1963 with W J Haney noting many cases of cruelty and abandonment resolved by agent Jim Begley. The society started dog tag sales, staffed a booth at the County Fair, maintained the county pound, and saw membership rise. a 1964 expansion relies on more active members.

Nichols To Head County Committee For State Issue 1

Attorney Harold D. Nichols of Batavia was named chairman of the Clermont County Committee for State Issue No. 1 at the D-X Ranch meeting. The campaign supports a $250 million state securities issue for higher education and state facilities, with a renewal of the 1 cent per pack cigarette tax. Paul Yelton of Bethel will organize a speakers bureau to present the issue before election day November 5.

Clermont County Health Department warns residents after two male inspectors cited a woman for alleged violations during a home visit. Health Commissioner Dr Albert W Van Sickle urged recognition of inspectors by official credentials. If credentials are not shown, call the sheriff.

CG&E Air Tour Visits Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky

An aerial tour sponsored by the CG&E Area Development Division showcased Southwestern Ohio and Northern Kentucky to out-of-area industry officials likely to relocate here. Attendees included CG&E and USH&P executives and county representatives from Brown Warren Butler Clermont and Hamilton Counties. Local Girl Enrolls At Georgetown College

Arlene Ansteatt of Cincinnati is enrolled for the 135th session at Georgetown College in Kentucky. She is a Clermont Northeastern High School graduate and senior this year. Georgetown College, chartered in 1829, is the oldest Baptist college in the Southern Baptist Convention, with 1043 full-time students this year and over 100 graduate and special students.

Sailor Given Penalty for Drunken Driving in Clermont County

James L. Nelson, 26, of New Richmond, an enlisted US Navy sailor, was fined 100 dollars plus court costs and sentenced to three days in jail after pleading guilty to drunken driving. He also paid 6 dollars in court costs for having only one headlight on his car in Clermont County Court before Judge John D. Erhardt.

Occupancy Permit Trouble Hits Clermont County Homes

The Clermont County prosecutor will decide how to handle three families occupying new homes without certificates of occupancy. Health Commissioner Dr. Albert W. Van Sickle said final plumbing inspections were not completed. Building Inspector O. C. Mattox tagged each home warning occupancy is illegal.

Juveniles Admit Series of Lootings

Eleven teenagers were arrested and one more sought after a round of lootings at schools and businesses last weekend. The group admitted taking musical instruments from Goshen high school and breaking into several homes and stores in Day Heights and Newtonsville areas dating back to July.

Religious Institute to Feature Rabbi Dr Sheldon Blank Speaker

The Batavia Fellowship of Protestant Churches hosts a four night religious institute at Batavia Evangelical United Brethren Church October 14 to 16 at 8 pm with Rabbi Dr Sheldon Blank of Hebrew Union College as speaker. Each evening covers a separate theme on prophetic and biblical topics. Local ministers will preside, and choirs will provide music with nursery services available. Truck Scale Test Unit To Visit Clermont County

Elmo Durbin announces that the state vehicle scale testing unit will visit Clermont County from October 14 through October 18. A route schedule will be announced. The unit weighs 27,000 pounds and is 10 feet high to avoid weak bridges and low underpasses. County Auditor Earl Metzger is the official sealer of weights and measures.

Dry Weather Warns Against Fire Starting

Fire Chief Ray Riggs warns residents of North Union Township to avoid starting fires while ground is dry. He cites Ohio Revised Code Section 3737.081, effective Oct 14, 1963, detailing penalties from 15 to 25 dollars for first offenses and 25 to 200 dollars for subsequent offenses, with enforcement by fire officials.
