Wrecker Tows Car After Route 133 Collision

Reed's Ohio wrecker responded last Saturday to tow a car on Route 133 at Cooper's subdivision after driver Jim Burns braked suddenly.

Buses in Clermont County School System Declared Safe

State Patrolman E. L. McLister reports all Clermont County school buses inspected and found safe. He checked 162 buses with no major repairs needed, 33 minor repairs completed, and four more awaiting overhaul and safety seals before return to service. Drivers were certified and medical certificates on file. mirrors for front view recommended.

Holy Name Rally Draws Thousands in Amelia Oct 9

In Amelia 29 parishes join the Holy Name Rally of the St. Martin Deanery. The event opens with a 2 PM parade led by the Amelia high school band, proceeding to St Bernadette Parish grounds for an outdoor mass celebrated by Rev. Bernard H. Piening. Monsignor Earl L. Whalen will preach on Catholic Action and the Laity. The public is invited.

Deputy William J. Ritchie Dies After Heart Attack

Clermont County deputy sheriff William J. Ritchie 63 died at home from a heart attack. A former Batavia police chief and court investigator, he recently returned to duty after six months of illness and his funeral was held at Moore Funeral Home Batavia. He is survived by his widow Sylvia and stepson Matthew Turckel.

Building Permits Rise to 123 in September

C. O. Mattox, building inspector, reported 123 permits issued in September including 59 for new houses valued at 776,950 dollars. This is two more than August's 57 permits. In the first nine months of 1960 total permits reached 1,202 versus 1,687 in the same period of 1959.

Clermont County Schoolmasters' Club opens with dinner on Oct 6. Warren Tipton announces a school philosophy presentation by candidates Charles Jackson and Harry Kahle. A new Athletic Sub Committee approves procedures for selecting a 22 member All-Star football team from 40 players. Nixon-Lodge Unit Names Two Here

The Ohio Volunteers for Nixon Lodge appoint Forest E. Ely of Batavia as chair man and Mrs. Charles L. Harrison of near Batavia as chair woman. They will organize local clubs in Clermont County to support the Nixon Lodge presidential ticket. Ely is a Batavia lawyer, WWII veteran, and bank director. Harrison is a Batesville Paris graduate and St Helena’s Episcopal member.

Official Refuses To Answer Most Board Questions

Commissioner Von Ison refused to answer all but three inquiries at a Board of Elections hearing. The board referred the amended campaign expense account to the county prosecutor for investigation, citing possible violations of election laws.
