Seven high risk teens in Clermont County join a Live Oaks vocational program at Mt. Repose to earn credits, build skills, and improve attitudes. Attendance runs at 94 percent while the group develops into a broader foster care network.
County plans to reallocate space across the courthouse and Bell building as part of a 20 year master plan. Proposals move clerk of court records to second floor or Bell building and create a new referee courtroom and attorneys conference room. Tax maps and auditor property work shift, archives relocated to damp free spaces.
OEPA officials in Batavia told Jackson Township residents they lack hard data on odor sources from the CECOS toxic waste site. They noted odors are hard to track and discussed an odor survey, truck traffic concerns on U.S. 60 and Aber Road, and local limits being set by governments. Officials cited hazardous waste transport violations and possible penalties for repeat offenders. William Stewart urged county awareness of the site’s problems.
Judge Watson proposed moving clerk of courts records to the first floor freeing space on the second floor for a second referee courtroom and attorneys conference room. The recorder, tax maps, auditor, and old county archives would shift to the Bell building or basement areas, with likely tax map relocation and basement space repurposed for the auditor’s department.
Amelia resident Martha Simpson and attorney Andrew Dennison urged Clermont County officials to obtain an attorney general interpretation of dog licensing laws. They argue the 30 day grace period and policing practice vary, amid her kennel housing homeless dogs while owners are sought or dogs are saved from euthanasia.
Two former preschool teachers in Amelia transformed an old home into Country Connections, a country decorating shop. They display crafts throughout the rooms, offer room decorating services, country weddings, and soon customized curtains. Their best sellers include wooden Amish figures, wreaths, dried flowers, ribbons, and lawn carolers, drawing customers from Greater Cincinnati.
