Jackson township farmer Ezra Sly sues Samuel Williams for $1,000 damages claiming statements damaged his reputation. The case traces a 20 year old dispute sparked by a cold chill and a quarrel over politics and business in Clermont county.
A large barn owned by Jane Manning on the Alex Bigham farm two miles north of Monterey burned Saturday night about eleven. The fire destroyed hay and grain contents and is believed caused by an incendiary. The Farmers Insurance covered the barn.
A home wedding at D. B. Moreton residence Moscow joined Arthur Moreton of Clermontville and Misa Sadie Barkley of Moscow. Rev. J. F. Burnett officiated at 12 30 with a large reception to follow. Guests included many local families and relatives from Calvary Laurel Clermontville Price Hill New Richmond Pt Isabel Felicity and Cincinnati.
The Friendship Circle hosts a Delightful Columbian Social with old time costumes and parlour games at Mrs. W. A. Kain’s residence. Guests wore antique bonnets and wraps while Miss Anna McNutt recited The Crookend Mouthed Family and Miss Jenkins read How I Came to be an Old Maid. Oysters coffee and doughnuts followed the literary portion. The event closed as guests renewed youth through games and charades before twelve o’clock.
A Citizen prays for court possession of his estate in a divorce case against George Crosier. Mattie Crosier sues for divorce alleging unkind remarks and choking. George seeks alimony and to halt disposition of property. Letters show a man worried about winter provisions and court control of assets. Additional cases involve George Hill versus Minnie Hill over marital conduct and corespondents. Several other suits seek property partition and mortgage foreclosures. Nash case notes bail set at 500 dollars pending new-trial motion December 12.
John E. Myers of Goshen dies at his daughter Mrs. John D. Kerr’s home in Washington Court House after years of illness with consumption. Born April 22, 1827, he practiced medicine after graduating in 1851 and served in both Ohio houses as a Democrat. He wrote under the name Vindex and leaves large means to his daughter.
Alex Cole aged 46 of Loveland was lifting hay from a wagon when a loose hook on a pulley tore his upper lip from gums to nostrils. He was transported to a Cincinnati hospital for treatment.
A four year old girl burned to death in Bantam after her dress caught fire from an open grate. Neighbors rushed to help but the child inhaled flames and vapors and died within hours. The mother Mrs Williams mourns as the village notes the accident.
George W Hulick son of Abram Hulick a Cincinnati commercial traveler and Miss Lizzie Perth singer with state reputation wed on Wednesday November 2 at the bride’s home in Mt Auburn. After a short tour the couple will settle in Mt. Auburn with many friends present. The notice promotes Dr Bull’s Cough Syrup as a cure for throat and chest illnesses.
The Clermont Sun’s vote abstract analysis highlights Judge Hulick running 43 votes behind his ticket in Clermont County after precinct by precinct tallies. Pattison gains center on Stonelick and Milford while Hulick leads Batavia in his home township Batavia. The piece argues for a fair, factual accounting of Hulick’s support.

Moses Elston, once in the grocery trade at New Richmond, has purchased the local creamery for 1600 dollars. He has hired a seasoned foreman and manager and plans to open the plant at once with expectations of profitability.
Louis Reif of the auditor's office in Cincinnati and Walter Elliott of Williamsburg hunted on Thanksgiving day. Elliott fired at birds and shot Reif in the face and arms, causing serious non fatal injuries. Reif was taken home to Oakley.
Matt Fee, a staunch Democrat in New Richmond, has attended numerous public events, marching mood in his steps and imagining troops in parade. He seeks a civil appointment, noting the army stays out of politics while his military spirit remains strong.
Charley McMath a popular Muscovite with Minor and Dixon groceries Cincinnati drove toward Maysville Kentucky last Friday night. In darkness near a narrow steep bank his horse stumbled and fell forty feet. McMath and horse escaped serious injury with only a scratch. buggy shattered into firewood and shoe strings.
