Court Refuses Coynes Appeal On Gun Charge
John A. Coyne 25 of Mt. Washington lost his bid to stay free after the U S Supreme Court refused to hear his appeal from a machine gun possession conviction. He was arrested Aug 17 1965 after a search of his Boot Hill Auto Graveyard trailer on 12 Mile Road New Richmond. He was tried April 19 1966 in Common Pleas Court by Judge M Dale Osborne and found guilty but not sentenced. His appeal argued the search warrant was illegal due to hearsay and lack of a time element.

Prosecuting Attorney Robert A. Jones Democratic holds office after a recount shows Jones 14,996 votes to 14,935 for Louis J. Schwartz Republican a 61 vote margin. The legal contest followed an initial swing from an unofficial Nov 5 tally of 15,200 to 14,929 and an official reversal to Schwartz by six votes before Jones requested the recount.
