Williamsburg area churches plan a Thanksgiving Eve service at Pentecostal Church Tales in Williamsburg Township on Wednesday November 26 at 7 30 p m The worship theme Let Us Give Thanks will be sung and reflected through choir music An offering will support a fund aiding families facing catastrophic disasters
Owensville area churches plan a Community Thanksgiving Service on Wednesday evening November 26 at 7 p.m. The Owensville Church of Christ on Main Street hosts the event with a Community Choir directed by Don Young set to perform.
The Little Miami East Fork river area group elected officers at its November meeting. Robert Slade was named president, Clarence Lytle vice president, May Jeffries treasurer, secretary Pemberton, andCorresponding secretary. Marie Fox and Duncan join the seven member board as new trustees. Membership is $2 yearly and can be obtained by calling 752-3215.
The YWCA of Clermont County will host a monthly recipe exchange luncheon on the third Wednesday at 55 South Fourth Street Batavia from 12 to 2. Attendees bring a covered dish and the recipe, plus cookies to trade. First regular luncheon January 21, potluck. 50 cent beverage fee. $10 annual membership. reservations to 732-0450.
Ohio National Guard unit in Batavia together with Cherry Grove IGA and Food Mart in Amelia plan a Christmas aid effort. Local organizers say proceeds will go to Larry Corliss and others in Batavia National Guard to distribute gifts and meals to needy families.
Holy Trinity Church at North and Sixth streets Batavia hosts its Second Annual Breakfast with Santa on December 13 at 9 am. Donuts juice sausage milk and coffee are offered for 2 dollars. Each child receives a gift from Santa and pictures are available. Reservations suggested by calling Elf Elaine or Elf Rita.
Mt Holly United Church of Christ hosts its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday December 6 from 9 AM selling goods hot sandwiches and homemade desserts served to shoppers with proceeds supporting church programs and outreach.
Volunteers are desperately needed two hours weekly to deliver meals to 13 homebound Loveland seniors. Food is prepared at the Grailville Nutrition site and delivered five days a week, sometimes the only hot meal for recipients. Contact Argie Dudley at 528-33 to help.
Officials from Clermont County Sheriff and Police Chiefs Association faced questions about jail funding and operations. Robert Van Camp described sales tax revenue since August 1979 now in the general fund and questioned appropriations. Temporary modular units would house 28 prisoners and require about 120 days to build and install.
In 1983 the Clermont County commissioners heard a $7,529,042 bid estimate from jail architects for a new law enforcement and corrections center to house 72 inmates. Completion aimed for late 1983 with bids due by June 1. The project, located on SR 222 north of Batavia, would include sheriff’s offices and offices for county agencies.
Kermit Smith told the commissioners that the Community Chest will not fund one wing, needing $895,500. The Welfare and Mental Health wings proceed with ARC and local grants totaling about $1.0 million while deadlines loom.
Dr. James Wasserman of the Clermont County Mental Health agency pushes funding for a Medical Social Services building and a Mental Health wing. The project seeks grants and local support, with a bid process planned as commissioners debate financing and design changes. Local shares total 242,278 plus 133,760 site value as part of the funding mix.
Batavia Township Trustees on November 18 unanimously approved a $13,358 bid to install a new three tone fire siren with weather and civil defense alerts. The project includes removal of the old siren, 60 day installation, 16 week delivery, and location behind the Batavia fire station with controls in the Clermont County sheriff’s office and fire station.
Commissioners last week approved an engineering agreement with Bene Engineers for sanitary sewers at Tate Recreation site near East Fork Harsha Lake. Donald J recommended lowering six inch force main cost from 26 to 18 dollars per linear foot for estimating. Also approved payment for work completed on the Middle East Fork Project and related East Fork Lake area AR.
