Billy Haynes 16 of 1704 Dayton Street Cincinnati was rushed to Children's Hospital by Batavia Patrolman Willard Kalchek about 12 30 am after being accidentally shot in the left hand. He was visiting his uncle John O Miller on Kane Run Road near Batavia while removing guns from a car. Billy is the son of Mr and Mrs William Haynes.

Water System Plans Finalized for Batavia Pierce and Union Townships
Final plans set with December 27 deadline for construction bids on a Batavia Pierce and Union townships water system. A December 16 hearing will review the project, which includes wells and test drilling and estimates costs totaling $1,771,368.50 for treatment plant, $180,000 for booster station, $185,270 for reservoir and tanks, and $20,000 for pumps. A Friday night meeting in Batavia launched plans for the fifth annual Boy Scout Circus to be held at Williamsburg school on Saturday night December 4 at 8 00. Amelia State Bank Denied Branch Request by Ohio Authority
The Ohio Division of Banks has refused Amelia State Bank’s bid to open a Williamsville branch in Clermont County. Superintendent Thurman R. Hazard said the Banking Advisory Board found insufficient banking need in Withamsville to justify a branch. The bank will not establish the branch, but the Boy Scout troop earned free use of the rooms above the bank for meetings.

Three Punished For Illegal Sales In Edenton Club
Robert E. Smith of Route 11 Pleasant Plain pleaded guilty in Batavia to illegal liquor sales and running a place for such sales at Terra Aqua Club near Edenton. Waitresses Velma Emery and Tatiana Crawford also pleaded guilty to illegal sales. Sentences included fines of 1000 dollars and six months in jail with most of each penalty suspended. Bednar the state liquor agent testified about the October 11 sale.
