Mrs. Caroline Donley of Amelia Ohio died after her clothing burned when lamp fluid saturated her garments. Capt Jolly helped smother the flames but the fire burned her entire body. She lingered until Saturday morning dying around 6 60 o clock. She leaves sisters and brothers in Ohio and Indiana. Funeral services were held Sunday at Laurel M B church.
Mr and Mrs Wm T Shumard of Girard Kansas celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on October 15 1909 at the daughter’s home from 2 to 5 pm. The event drew G A R members neighbors and friends with seven grandchildren and one great grandchild present. Shumard served in the 7th Ohio Cavalry and survived the Sultana disaster.
Mrs. Butler, wife of Marion Butler, left momentarily at Spann store. A neighborhood youth opened the cash drawer and stole about 76 dollars. Her screams caused him to drop several dollars. He fled crossing the river near Nine Mile mouth.

John R Higgins born September 6 1886 in New Hope Brown County Ohio served in Co K 48th O V I from 1861 to 1862 and fought at many battles. He later taught school for nearly thirty years studied medicine and wrote extensively. He died November 20 1909 and was buried at Batavia Union Cemetery with G A R honors.

Judge Davis heard last week in a case between C A Pricket and Anna Pricket. The husband sought a divorce on grounds of extreme cruelty and neglect, but the court denied his petition and granted Anna a decree on her cross petition after about 40 witnesses testified. The couple live near Amelia with Griffith Nichole for the defendant and Archer and Kearns for the plaintiff.
Miss Althea Hoerner wed Kyle Moyer at 6 PM in Batavia. Rev J L Rames presided at the Presbyterian church. After a wedding supper the couple left for a short honeymoon and will reside on Wood Street once home furnished.
Miss Athel Applegate and Clifford Stouder of Goshen were wed near Morrow in Warren County on Sunday November 21 at 8 o clock by Rev M Fulton. The bride wore cream colored silk and was accompanied by Mr Donley and Miss Applegate sister of the bride.
