Five area races to be recounted in Ohio county election

Clermont County Board of Elections will run recounts by computer in five races on Monday at 9 a.m. Five recount requests were filed, with a $10 per precinct recount fee unless the candidate requests it for free. Races include Wayne Township clerk and two Amelia Council seats among others with voter turnouts ranging from 39 to 79 percent across precincts.

Clermont County Food Bank Aids Needy Amid Economic Strain

Ginnie Porter, once a welfare mother and recent divorcee, now helps others through Clermont County food bank. Chairman Al Koller notes rising hunger, with 38 percent of the nation in the new poor category. Phillip Randy Carson of Batavia joins seven applicants for the late Sue Fisher's 66th District Ohio House seat. Carson, an insurance man, previously ran in 1982 with Norbert Ward and others as party officials plan interviews and a committee meeting to select a replacement before the caucus vote in January.
