A young man from Batavia died Monday morning at Mrs. Jonnie Titus's home after a several week illness. He was an adopted son of E. O. Lease of Columbus and a Batavia High School graduate. A member of the American Legion, which led the service, he was known as a natural musician and favored by local youth. Funeral from the Titus home Tuesday afternoon with burial in Union Cemetery.

The Batavia Woman's Club met Nov 18 at 7 30 pm with hostess Mrs V O Lytle. About 55 members and guests heard vocal and piano solos, duets, and trios including Minnetonka Indian Love Song and Titania. A social hour and one course lunch followed. Local berry and fruit crops are reported. Batavia harvests a second crop of butter beans strawberries cherries and plums. Chicken Thieves Reported Nationwide Thefts Spur Arrests
Reports describe a spate of chicken thefts including a Thursday night raid on Mrs. Christman near Goshen that netted 60 Rhode Island Red hens and roosters worth 60 dollars. Three colored men were stopped in Cincinnati with the birds and escorted to the station as Batavia Sheriff J B Rapp and officials moved to pursue hearings. The stolen car was seized for loss of 45 birds during transport. An extra grand jury may be convened to handle the case.

Obituary of Henrietta L. Mottier Guynn
Henrietta L Mottier born October 11 1847 in Rex Canton Switzerland died November 11 1922 at 75. She moved to the United States at age four and joined the Moscow Ohio Christian church in 1862. She married William H Guynn in 1865 at Moscow and had one son Ellis L Guynn who survives her. She and her husband farmed near Moscow and she is remembered for faith and kindness. They endured widowhood since 1914 and hoped for reunion in God’s time.

Pike from Milford to Hillsboro Opens for Sunday Travel
The state pike from Milford to Hillsboro through Penintown Boston and Marathon is now open offering a through route to Columbus. Hundreds of autos travel it on Sundays and no speed traps have been established yet. The drive is described as fine to Hillsboro.

Large share of 1923 auto tags salvaged after Ohio pen fire
Columbus reporters said the fire at the Ohio penitentiary last week destroyed the tag shop but a large portion of the 600000 automobile tags for 1923 were salvaged. Warden P. B. E. Thomas announced that remaining tags will be reenameled and issued. If 1928 steel tags cannot be completed, cardboard licenses paraffin coated will be printed, Registrar A. G. Snow stated.

Former Batavian Assault Case in Hillsboro
Henry K. Johnson brother of A. T. Johnson and longtime resident was assaulted in Hillsboro last week after ordering a hotel employee out. The assailant, named Stephens, followed him to the wash room and attacked, threatening to kill if Johnson pressed charges. A warrant was issued and search underway. Johnson was badly beaten.
