Voters approve most special issues in Clermont County

Clermont County townships and villages passed most special issues in last week’s election. Goshen school bond failed 311 to 186. Felicity Franklin school bond carried 547 to 235 after May defeat. Fire hydrant rental in Bethel 608 to 122. Batavia School 560 to 220. several other levies across Miamiville Branch Hill Wayne Bethel Tate and Williamsville-Tabasco key results include margins and some defeats.

Obituary notices for Lena Seibert and Margaret Lohrer

Lena H Seibert died after a stroke at 86 in Cincinnati living with her daughter Mrs Minnie Staigle. Services were at Craver Funeral Home and buried in Spring Grove Cemetery. She leaves two brothers and two sisters and a daughter Clara Steinway. Margaret A Lohrer died at 67 at her son J L Lohrer Owensville after a long illness and Requiem High Mass was held at St Louis Catholic Church.

Local Junior Polio Unit Formed by Hamilton County Students

Batavia Considering Taxi Service For Town

Batavia may soon see a taxi service as Harold Med lender Route 2 Amelia and Er nest Morrell Bethel secured permission to run two taxis one day one night. Service would start after a location is found with a 25 cent fare for up to four riders within Batavia and 25 cents per mile elsewhere. Further details and applications are available from the Commission's local secretary Mrs Moore at Batavia Post Office and Civil Service regional offices in Cincinnati.

Catholic Book Week Observed at St Bernadette School

At St Bernadette School November activities included Catholic Book Week from November 3 to 9 with the slogan Christian Books Pillars of Peace. Freshman posters depict reading themes and each member presents a report. A spaghetti dinner and card party on November 23 under Mrs Fisch and Mrs Mager aims to fund a new school addition with dinner served 5 to 8 pm.

Lifelong Owensville resident Mrs. Margaret Lohrer formerly Apgar, widow of John F. Lohrer who died in 1943, survives with her son, two sisters Mrs. William Marshall and Mrs. Walter Massman of Oakley, and two brothers Galeh Apgar of Owensville and Monas Apgar of Norwood.

Clermont County Boy Scouts Plan Full-Time Field Executive

Clermont County District Boy Scout Committee met at Batavia Court House with over 60 attendees to map the 1947 program. Russell Speidel chaired as John P. Friend noted shared field service with Brown County. only one third of the county is covered, with 593 Scouts and 340 yearly entrants. A full-time field executive was approved, with funds to be raised, to better support Troop units and Scouting aims including reverence, citizenship, personal development and outdoor programs.

County Basketball League open season November 21
