Re elect Carter and bipartisan highway board urged

Clermont County Farm Bureau re elected E L Carter of Milford president for the sixth term at Batavia church. Officers elected included R F Turner and Walter Cowdrey. Delegates named for state meetings. 65 members received 15 year pins. resolutions urged tariff, tax, and road policy changes and support for a bipartisan State Highway Board and highway patrol powers.

State to fund Afton Route 74 overpass at $62,000

State Representative John Hayden told Clermont County Commissioners the Afton overpass on State Route 74 will be built next year at no cost to county taxpayers. The contract will be let early January, and the $62,000 price will be paid by the state with railroad right of way provided.

Ninety-Year-Old Civil War Vet Willis Rybolt Celebrated

Withamsville honors Willis Rybolt, last surviving Civil War veteran in Clermont County, with a child centered demonstration. South Union Township Civic Association and Boy Scouts led a 2:30 pm parade to his home, singing Happy Birthday and presenting a cake with ninety candles in national colors. The event continued at the Community Hall with refreshments as Rybolt, a Second Ohio Cavalry veteran in General Custer’s division, appeared in spirit.

Game Preserve organized in Batavia township

About 60 landowners met at Mt. Holly Community Building Monday night to form a Game Preserve aimed at wildlife protection and propagation. The project spans Batavia township between Routes 74 and 125 along the East Fork with 1800 acres under contract and a 2500 acre goal. Officers elected include Jess Bissantz president Allen Boles vice president Clarence Lytle secretary A I Channell Richard Fritz James Boyd Bill Snyder and Earl Henning trustees Fred Topie treasurer The group met Tuesday night to adopt by laws. Halbisch Named Clermont County Probate Judge

Attorney Orville W. Halbisch of Batavia is appointed Probate Judge of Clermont County by Governor Martin L. Davey succeeding the late Judge Charles G. Woodmansee. Born November 5 1898 in Batavia, Halbisch has served as court stenographer and was educated at Batavia High School Campbell's Commercial School Cincinnati and YMCA Law School. He married with two children and affiliates with Batavia Lodges 104 F and A M and U R A M and directs the Southern Ohio Coon Hunters Association.

Five of ten Clermont measures win approval at election
