In Curiao on November 6 Mrs. Gardner wife of Dr Schuyler Gardner shot her husband and child in their home then shot herself in the temple. Neighbors say the husband had recently lost property and accused her of infidelity causing mental strain.
In Montreal on November 6 a mob of about two thousand disrupted Rev. Father Chiniquy’s lecture at Russell Hall. The audience opposed the speech, fights and vandalism followed with lamps benches and glass broken. Police struggled to restore order while Chiniquy and supporters fled in carriages pursued by stones. Several people were injured and threats against the lecturer were alleged.
A fierce east wind and snow storm rages along the Canadian coast from Farther Point to Rimouski. Winds average 70 mph. seas flood highways, inundate parishes, and wash away rail and telegraph links. Rimouski town is submerged with houses and wharves carried off. no lives reported but costly damage estimated at 30,000 dollars.
London on November 6 the trial for the murder of Captain Dudley and his mate aboard the wrecked yacht Mignonette concluded. The jury returned a special verdict with a finding of murder and a recommendation to mercy for the defendants. The prisoners were released on bail on the same day.
A hidden vault eight by five by four feet was uncovered in Mitchell woods north of Lagonda. A gas vent, crow bar, and bucket were found. The digging was neatly concealed under a grassy grate. Police investigate as a suspected thieves shelter.
The will leaves the Times newspaper and full estate to widow Eureka C Storey with power to sell, but estate returns to heirs at law. Annuity to the decedent's brother and sister if income exceeds 10000 annually. Anson Storey named administrator, contesting validity. Hearing postponed for one week.

George Chagnon a French Canadian and weaver was killed while several others were injured when a fly-wheel of the Wauregan Mills engine burst in Providence on November 5.

In Bixnceston Ontario on November 3 a premature gunpowder blast at Bedford Station killed John McCrimmon and injured Alpheus Brown who suffered a broken jaw both eye put out and mangled hands based on local report

Carriers must return to central offices after walking miles to restart deliveries and receive nothing for the extra labor. They dare not complain, as replacements are readily available.
Reports from Havana on a cyclone across the island describe widespread damage. In Arecibo thirty homes housing the poor were destroyed as water flooded stores and a schooner was driven ashore. Nuevitas suffered severe impact, and the railway station recorded water two and a half feet above the stairs while the telegraph station was struck and destroyed.

At the Board of Trade meeting in Far River Massachusetts a majority favored shutting down mills next week. An agreement to close on Saturday night for one week has been signed by mills representing about one million spindles and more confirmations are expected to bring total to around 1.4 million spindles.
The seven days ending today show 185 failures in the United States and 21 in Canada, totaling 206. This marks a drop from last week’s 267 and the prior week’s 258, with decreases noted in New Zealand, the Middle States, and New York City.
