Williamsburg Mayor to resign if earnings tax not reenacted

At a council meeting Mayor Harry Donaworth announced he would resign on January 1, 1983, unless the one percent earnings tax is reenacted permanently. He cited health and family reasons, while Councilman Roger Maham expressed shock yet understanding. The tax, created in 1980 to fund about $100,000 of the village budget, was voted down last week but was reinstated as an emergency measure through December 1.

Rehabilitation program planned for $800000 juvenile center

Work has begun on the $800,000 juvenile detention and justice center at SR 32 and Bauer Road near the Medical Social Services Complex. The project includes a 10,250 square foot pre engineered building with detention and rehabilitation wings, classrooms, offices, and a courtroom.

Veterans Day Parade in Batavia Kicks Off at 7 PM

The annual Veterans Day parade will be held in Batavia on Thursday November 11 starting at 7 p.m. at the Kroger store and moving east along Main Street toward a ceremony at the county courthouse. School bands fire departments and veterans groups from across the county will take part.

Fisher wins 66th District state seat in Clermont County

Rep elect Sue J. Fisher edges rivals by 15 107 to 10 097 with 4910 vote margin. She credits husband Ted Fisher and campaign manager Rita Fisher.
