Unofficial Clermont County Board of Elections results show county totals for the general election held November 2, 1982. Races crossing districts with non Clermont areas lack presstime totals.
Republican Sue J. Fisher, a Monroe Township nurse, won the new 66th District seat with 15,107 votes. Catherine B. Wuerdeman trailed with 10,097 and Lois Brown Dale and John Montgomery also competed. Voters also elected Priscilla S. O'Donnell county court judge and Robert Ringland to the new third common pleas post, while incumbent John L. Watson won re election in another bench race. Auditors, commissioners and issue outcomes reflected a 64.8 percent turnout of 34,605 ballots cast from 53,330 registered voters.
Clermont County deputies and multiple agencies hunted for William J. Lee a 21 year old prisoner who escaped from the modular jail near Batavia. Officials reported Lee fled during a fence lock tamper and remained at large Tuesday evening. Police dogs a patrol plane and ground units aided the search as officers locked down the area north of Batavia near SR 222 SR 132 and Filager.
Clermont County detectives investigated the death of Joanne Miller of Batavia as of Tuesday evening. Sheriff John Van Camp said the death appeared to involve gunshot wounds related to personal safety. Miller's body was found by her father on Kennedy Ford Road north of Bethel at a farm owned by him. The death was reported to authorities at 2 36 p m Tuesday November 2. Miller worked as an insurance agent at Miller Insurance Agency in Batavia. Her sister Judy Miller serves on the Clermont County Board of Elections.
