Oscar Schoenberger a Southern League veteran and former New Orleans first baseman died after a hunting accident on his father's farm near Mt Holly. While loading corn with his father a gun discharged injuring him in the chest. he died about 6 pm. He had tied a bloodied handkerchief to a collie to guide his mother to the scene. He had recently played in Cincinnati and was known as Dexter in baseball circles.
