At Miss Jessie Coulter's home on October 29 the Amelia Woman's Club hosted a Halloween evening for members and guests. Guests arrived as ghosts, then unmasked to reveal club members. Activities included ring and thimble games, pumpkin spearing, and fortunes, with witches and jack o lantern decor, a luncheon, and music. Attendees listed include Harry Haggerty, W A Williams, W O Hutson, W F Hall and wives, and many club members and guests.
Obituary memorializes Mary S. Weaver born October 24 1889 who died at 71 in her home after a life devoted to family and animals. She is praised for quiet, loving service and steadfast kindness, with family recalling her devotion and gentle character.
Two Clermont businessmen engaged in Tucson after purchasing Heidel Hotel in a deal completed yesterday. John Heidel sells furniture and a ten year lease to J B Ryland and J W Kellum of Cincinnati with possession November 1. Ryland, Kellum intend to modernize the Heidel while Ryland plans racing ventures in Tucson and blooded horse breeding in Pima County.
Mr and Mrs H J Runyan of Milford marked their fifty fifth wedding anniversary on Monday October 24 with a small gathering of friends and neighbors paying their congratulations in the evening.
Township assessors note a slight increase in wheat area for 1911 with excellent growing conditions at 102 percent. Rye area falls about 3000 acres while corn prospects rise 3 percent to 8 percent of normal. Potatoes yield 12,200,376 bushels from 143,431 acres, hog condition at 77 percent with cholera fears.
