Election day brought heavy turnout with good weather as Republicans claim statewide momentum. Clermont County favored Coolidge and Donahey while Kearns won in the district by a large margin, but two judge seats fell to Democrats and the sheriff ticket shifted by two votes. Unofficial tallies indicate strong GOP performance across the county.
The county Red Cross explains its Roll Call activities aiding World War II veterans with medical care and hospital referrals, supporting families, and assisting crippled children through doctors and state programs. It notes rehabilitation schooling for shut-ins, leading to self sufficient maintenance with or without aid. It invites participation as a Good Samaritan neighbor.
Thousands of churches will join Armistice Day events on November 11 as a mobilization for world justice and peace. The Federal Council of Churches backs a ten year drive to outlaw war, stressing international cooperation and internal security through peace machinery.

Clermont county farmers officers plan a November 18 gathering in Batavia with F L Allen from State University to outline winter Institutes. State aid sessions are set for Goshen January 9 10 Williamsburg January 12 18 Newtonsville January 7 15 and Owensville February 9 10. Also anticipated are independent institutes and attendance by ministers teachers Grange and Farm Bureau leaders. In Brown county the Burley Tobacco Growers Association vs Ed List retrial is scheduled for November 10. Nichols Speidel Nichols Batavia listed for plaintiff's attorneys with Clyde F Tom county agent.
Mort Ellis of Wilhiamsville earned the title of county and district champion potato raiser after planting 12 bushels of seed and harvesting 240 bushels this fall. Reports also note a seven and a half pound sweet potato raised by H. L. Larkin of Batavia, inspiring local growers.
The county election clerk reports 335 absent voter ballots issued by Friday night, sent to every state. Ballots received by Saturday morning were given to presiding judges to be opened on election day, with late arrivals to be opened Thursday during the official count by the board.
Frank Crane longtime Batavia resident and Sun office employee for about fifty years died Sunday at 1 am after a short illness at his mother's home. A Masonic leader and M B church member, he leaves a mother, sister, brother and nephew Frank C. Walt. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his residence with interment in Union cemetery.
George Gunderley and Sons open a filling station and refreshment stand at the foot of the Williamsburg hill in East Batavia. The new Bolder Inn draws liberal patronage with county wide reputation for sandwiches, roasted ham shown in public view, and praised service and quality. A good stop for weary travelers.
